Caustic vs Wattson

In their current state, who do you think is more “useful” in the current meta and maps? My friends are your typical mobility legend normies and I always end up as the guy who has to use a defensive legend. I enjoy playing differently feeling legends though. I’ve been playing too much Gibby for a couple seasons now and want something fresh as a secondary main. Any ideas which secondary defensive legend to pick? Sorry, Rampart is not an option but I think she’s more viable now compared to pre-buff Rampart. I was supposed to post this question under @soccerking122’s thread but I can’t find it anymore.

  • @Cheese9Man Most likely Caustic will be good for you. He fortifies locations faster and easier than Wattson and he can actually block a push instead of just slowing it down. If your friend's like playing fast and aggressive the Caustic's Ult is more beneficial too.

Wattson is skinnier so she may be better in direct gun vs gun fights and I'm sure there are some clever tricks an aggressive Wattson can pull (though I don't know any.) Caustic is still your safest bet.

  • @Cheese9Man Totally depends on how you are playing. Wattson can be solid if you get to an end spot early enough to fence up and put a pylon down that never expires. She has a much smaller hitbox too.

The difference is Caustic can be used offensively and is why I mained him for a long time.

I don't think you have to have a defensive character unless you are playing algs tho.
  • In the current state of the game, this is like comparing which drunk person takes a better math test.

Both are bottom of the barrel so much it hurts too much to even address.  I like Wattson better myself, but I quit playing her as a main for so long now because of how bad a job Respawn has done.  I suppose you can take that to mean Caustic is better but what are we really saying?

Kudos on the conundrum you've caused me, Cheeseman.

  • @heme725 @hayhor @KelRiever Thanks for the advice everyone! They’re definitely tough picks especially when soloQing. From your suggestions, it seems that Caustic is a bit better now. Wattson can hold down a building better since the fences are permanent but if I soloQ no one is willing to stay in one building and Caustic will be more “friendlier” for those types of situations since it’s easier to place traps.

Imagine if the next season maps would be SP and Olympus only. Caustic, Wattson and this thread will age like milk immediately. LMAO.

  • As they are now.....neither. xD

I'd probably say caustic is more useful due to area denial though if I had to choose one.

With regards to your rampart statement though, she is far more versatile than the two stated above, you just gotta get creative with her.

My son mains Caustic and holy *, does he know how to use him! Cant count how many wins we had in duos strictly because of Caustic. And saving his ult for the final ring and using it properly was a win every time. Also - many times I went down and if it wasn't for his traps and positioning them strategically, 80% of the time there was no way he would have been able to revive me and as well as give me enough time to fully heal up.

I feel Caustic is one of the strongest if not thee, when in CQC within building structures. Now for SP, my son stop using him, only on that map - as SP has made Caustic pretty much obsolete....among other legends.

Never seen so many Valks before since SP launched. Im sure if allowed most teams would run 3 Valks lol.
