Clearing up some misleading news
Recently there has been a lot of talk about how overwatch 2 has turned off controller AA in pc lobbies. In a video showcased by jmeyels someone has set up an r5 reloaded scenario where AA is turned up to 1.0 instead of regular values (.6 for console or .4 for pc) the footage appears to show the player tracking an enemy, the midpoint/fire point of the screen DOES move off of the target a couple of times even tho the 1.0 AA was described as an aimbot. jmeyels touched on that a little bit, but I think he missed one crucial point, the enemy that the player was seamlessly tracking was only walking, not running or moving a lot at all. If the enemy had acted like a real player, you would surely see the AA is not an aimbot at all, even at 1.0 values. To further clear this up, controller AA is almost half of what was shown in the video, and pc AA is ver similar to controller AA. Quick reminder of why the game has AA in the first place, and why controller gets slightly more. AA is put into games so that players can hit their shots and have a fun time, regularly you would have a rough time hitting shots, and the game would feel boring. Here are the reason controller has more AA than pc, I know this is a controversial topic, I just want to bring truth to what people may be seeing on the internet. If you would like to have a discussion I’m game, but please try to see the other side, and maybe even try it out. Now, the reasons, here are some things pc has, that console does not: tap strafing, and other types, moving while looting, mouse flicking (this is actually a big deal despite what it sounds like), some weird launch mechanics that are hard to describe, allowing you to power launch yourself over a ledge, comprehensive button re-binding, easier button positioning (crouching while shooting is not as easy on controller) 120 fps. That is why controller has slightly better AA, I would be happy to give up the increased AA once respawn makes the controller game the same as the pc game. Also before someone suggests that the lobbies be separated, most of the player base is in console, or plays controller on pc. Respawn wants fat que times to make the game more enjoyable and therefore more profitable, I don’t think they will ever change this. Best wishes and happy gaming!
