Damage numbers need removing

The issue I have is if the enemy has 100 health and 60 shields, if you deal 70 damage and break the shield while dealing only 10 damage to health, it will show as if you dealt 70 damage to health, causing you to think they're low.
I would like the damage to be shown more clearly. It would be much more useful to me to get a accurate idea of what damage I've done. I'm unable to build a consistently clear picture of how much damage I've done. If that makes sense. I would like it to be simpler and clearer.
