Hi,As the title says, High ping players need to be Auto-kicked.Reason? there is too much of an advantage if you lag. 50% dodge rate, you can shoot people sooner then they can shoot you, you pick up items earlier then other players.It also gets MASSIVELY abused by "high skilled" players. They got the 20kill or 4k damage badge? 9/10 they also lag like crazy. What are they abusing, I hear you ask?They abuse the ability to connect to an overseas server, It's auto win. Only a lagger can kill another lagger "fairly" and that's why you need to be Auto kicked from a given serverif your ping is too high. Stay in your own region, play fair and dont abuse lag.The fix? Either the Net code for the game needs to be revamped or remove the ability to go to overseas servers. Personally I would see an Auto-kick function, you connectto an overseas server and your ping is too high? too bad you get connected back to the server in your region.On a side note, all those "high skilled" players out there, even pro players do this, Shame on you.

@hayhoranything over a 100 is high. I play on EU as well and its only 75ms which is acceptable. Players lets say from brazil trying to ping on US servers run around with over 150ms which is a problem. Also, dont forget there are third party programs that throttle your connection raising your ping just to try to gain an advantage in fights, so yes. Every fps needs to have ping lock with out question. Thats the main reason we need ping lock to combat throttlers, period.

20 years ago Counter-Strike auto kicked high pingers. 15 years ago BF2 had auto kick for high pingers. Modern gaming is sad compared to the kind of net performance you could expect and that was with much less bandwidth all those years ago.The integrity of the game performance should be something very important to gamers yet it isn't. Discussions like this need to more common. People will use VPN's still to abuse ping and get around region locking so kicking high ping has to be the way to ensure good performing servers.

@swannemansBump. Server selection needs to have a ping limit. Nothing good comes from players with 100ms+ ping.

I am a high proponent of restricting high ping players trying to exploit, abuse, troll and ultimately ruin the experience for everyone. Especially ranked, casuals is what ever, but ranked 100% ping lock is needed.

@swannemans What ping is too high in your opinion? I am in the US and have played on European and South American servers with friends and they play on mine. We rarely have issues with lag and never see an advantage.

Advantage: They skip around making it harder to lead your shots and or predict there movements.

Whenever I see a player like this, I turn on my MIC (Rarely if ever I do this) just to call it out and focus fire since it's hard to 1v1 a player who can skip around.

My suggestion is to simply lock them in place. If your ping spikes up, your character is unable to move.

Kinda like how Battle Field does it. They restrict player movement.

@hayhor Oh no I was just responding to your, "We rarely have issues with lag and never see an advantage" part. I wouldn't know what's considered high but I'm sure it's around whatever causes the skipping.

Forgive my ignorance, but does a high ping player not have to deal with their enemies jumping around as well? I'm pretty tech savy, but am somewhat networking ignorant.
If a ping is how long it takes to send/receive data from the server, would it not work both ways?

Pretty much, with the way they tackled this issue, the player with highping is only moving around kinda slugish while the player viewing them sees them skipping around. I've played on a highping before and everything seems normal unless the action gets really intense, in which case the game kicks you.

The high ping player freezes in one spot (from the POV of the normal ping player) but if you shoot at that spot, the player is not actually there but in a different location, thus they appear to be skipping.

(FYI - Not savy myself in this but taking basic ideas from what I've seen)

@blkarmphoenixIt depends on if they do it to abuse it or they just have networking problems. If they have networking problems, they’ll have a hard time too since it also takes a while for the server to respond to their client so everything for them either goes blocky or just phase-shiftingly.
If they do it on purpose, they either use hardware to set a ‘perfect balance’ between them seeing fine, but others seeing them laggy.

It’s not only the send and receive rate from the packages to client & server. You also have to for account the input lag of your controller/KB&M, the response time from your monitor or tv and even possible packet loss.
So it’s a lot to think about.
but anywhere from 60-150 is noticeable for at least the server to miss shots and for the receiver... 100-200 is missing a lot of info for both parties. 200+ and you can forget carrying a slow shooting gun

@swannemansI know what you mean. I’ve had some 20 bombers on my team and usually they lag HARD when fighting and after a fight, everything’s okay... it’s annoying cause I dont want to play with or against ppl who abuse a system that way.

Crappy netcode is abused by high pingers that create that situation with lag switches, VPNs, or just playing in far away regions. Apex has the worst netcode of all competitive games. They split packets for incoming updates. Those with higher ping become harder to shoot while benefiting from the shooter advantage. It is bad enough when someone has a ping that is high but then Apex splits those packets for updates further delaying the updates while the play back portion of the netcode allows them to front load all damage on their targets. They take less damage due to missed updates and they get the full monty of most if not all of their damage hitting a target that is on a better connection where packets are updating faster and more consistently.

I despise high pingers. BFV has a huge issue with 150-300 pingers invading servers I get 12 ping on. BFV has much better netcode than Apex but it is still annoying.

This is really the only fault I have with Apex. It is a deal-breaker for me. Everything else about this game is acceptable or just great about it.
