Judging a player
Okay so there are alot of ways to actually judge a player(‘s worth). What do you pay attention to? at first I check which character they choose. Consensus (albeit not reliably) is pathfinder/octane/...
@Koochi-QI am a wraith main and I'm not always extremely aggressive but I tend to be. I try and judge my squad mates skill. If I don't think they can handle frag and the choke points that follow going through frag, I try to get them to avoid it.
Duos is another story, I'm extremely aggressive in duos mostly because it's not terribly difficult to carry your squadmate. But it also depends on my load out, if I don't like the load out I'm not going to push fights until I have something I'm comfortable with.
I have a friend who's a Wattson main, he's extremely aggressive, more so than I am. I used to leave games anytime I'd get a caustic player but I had one who was actually really good and never gassed me. So I give them a chance.
As for the players skill, no way to tell based on their trackers/banners. I got paired with a predator in duos and I had to revive him 4 times and respawn him once. People just have bad rounds.. Then there are the dudes with boosted badges.I have been on the other end of that as well, in which I get knocked 3-4 times and don't really do much but act as a bullet sponge. My Kill stats are probably misleading, I only have about 1200 kills with wraith, but I have 1200 with bang and about as many with Wattson. I also get a ton of knocks, I have something like 5000 knocks.. Bloodhound is starting to get quite a few kills as well.
The people who grind my nerves are the ones who are looting when I'm being pushed and need help. Basically don't play as a team unit. It's insanely frustrating when I have done a ton of damage to two players and my squad mate is not rushing to help..
@Koochi-Q Remember, don't judge a book by its cover! 😉. Well that's what i usually do, sometimes i get like really good lvl 100-150 players with low stats, other times lvl 400 guys with lots of kills who actually can't do properly a single thing. The only case that makes me think "oh gosh, this game will be hard" is when i get obvious newbies(below lvl 20) with 20 kills at best or similar. Nothing against them, i always try to lead them and help in the best possible way, but it usually ends with a 1v3 situation where i get slaughtered xD.
@Koochi-Q Season 0- to about mid season 3 I checked stats badges etc. Honestly they don't really tell you anything. All of my legends have been stripped of all of the badges and trackers of any merit. I use the baller badge on every one and that is it.
First thing I look at is in game drop. Do you pick a spot, do you have the ability to loot and fight where you drop? Find out quick enough. In ranked almost every game is drop cage/skull town or pit. Most of those games I wind up solo or back at the lobby. Occasionally I get squad mates who can handle those situations and drops. No shield a p2020 and lets fight it out mentality only goes so far ya know.
Most of my opinions come from their decisions about moving and rotating circles. If they decide to go to the middle of every circle I start giving them a wide berth and edge rotating solo. Especially on KC, who the hell wants to be right in the middle where you are getting blasted from every direction? Another thing I watch is their ammo types. If I have a teammate with shotgun and light/ heavy ammo and I keep hearing a charge from them for their peacekeeper, and then subsequently followed up by a long range sniper shoddy shot, I am giving them a wide berth. I have had plenty of teammates this season die to charge havoc shots, I mean seriously sat there for 3 to the face before thinking maybe I should move.
Anyhoot I give almost no merit to the badges on face value. 4k 20 bomb, maybe they can handle themselves, maybe not. My experience has been most of them I have played with think they are invincible and use poor rotation and just jump into multi-squad fights without looking at the 3 squads outlying watching to see when they can come in and mop up.
No matter the badge or skill level i think landing skull town or on WE frag is a crap shoot. You are probably going to be fighting pre-mades that are talking to each other and can fight as a squad and in early game it is hard to get a sense of your random teammates anyways. Just my opinion, but it has also been my experience.
