Mechanical Skill
I’m still a little sour that Respawn just admitted that they don’t value a player’s mechanical skill as a metric for winning gunfights and games.
I’m also shocked that more people aren’t bothered this.
I am happy they were receptive to the player feedback regarding TTK, but McCord’s response revealed what I presumed months ago— that being, that there is sort of a resentment towards players with good mechanical skill. It’s the entire reason that they embrace such aggressive SBMM. Lump all the high-mechanical-skilled players together so they don’t play against and beat our lower skilled customers.
Again, I am glad they reverted the TTK, but the Dev’s response make me feel like other changes are coming down the pike to make the game “easier”. Maybe they will enact an in-game handicap (like in fighting games) where players who are flagged as “good” will automatically have less health and do less damage— imagine that.
