- @hayhor could and partly probably are but my point is if I see season 8 stats (couldn't find season 9 history but I know for sure that in season 10 there were still ~8% of people in Diamond) and here now 1 season later it is 10%+... plus over 2-3 seasons number of players in Diamond basically triple...doubt that it's a natural progression seeing all that I mentioned before in my posts.
@CocoaHyena - amen to what you said, couldn't agree more and I view the game exactly the same way talking about who is "good" and who is "noob".
Just now found 2 normal players in discord, went from hardstuck d4 for 2+ weeks to pretty much D3 in sub 2h - we won 2 out of 4 and finished just one game in negatives so far (other two dudes were also hard stuck D4 and one with ~400 points into D4 and no hackers this time :D). Just shows this good vs noob quite well and what I said before about difference in being hardstuck. A proof
@CocoaHyena @You are relatively correct and absolutely wrong. Mathematically absolute 🙂
You mat think they are bad but you are saying better than average and good players are bad.
If you represent a large minority of the player group, which is what you are if you get Plat III or higher, then you are very good or better, Plat Iv players are good just not as good as you and they are much better than the average or below.
Sorry 🙂
- @KelRiever Um, no. Those stats are based on an average, including people who do not play ranked or very rarely do.
Literally ANYONE can make plat IV every single split no matter how noob they are if they put in the time to climb.
I'm about done with this convo, agree to disagree ✌️ @KelRieverwhat I think is a difference between what you and @CocoaHyena trying to say is that:
- you take Apex community as an exclusive entity, see its rank distribution and compare only this player base vs itself. Apples vs apples. Then sure you can't argue that Plat players are better than Gold etc.
- @CocoaHyena on the other hand I think is comparing Apex player base vs whole FPS/BR player base. Apples vs apples and different apples.
For example - if you take a 1st-grade math class and Apex community is 1st-grade children then you can say that some of them are better at math than others, yet if an adult comes into the class (rest of the FPS/BR community) it is clear that adult is so much more superior in math than ANY of 1st graders that in turn makes them all bad at math which is actually true.
In Apex you see "adults" in form of players like me who jump into Apex and go straight into high Plat/Diamond and you objectively can't make an argument that it is me - the player who has not played BR before, has not played FPS in a while, etc. - who is super good, gifted, because clearly, I am not - I am noway near regular masters/preds, I am average in other shooters and I have not played in a while.* you might make an argument here that hey Masters and Preds in Apex are just ~1% of the player base (or whatever) so you are comparing yourself vs elite. Yet I think the reality in Apex is just that it has too huge player base which is in the absolute majority really bad at the game which dilutes the significance of Masters/Preds. Meaning that if all the kids, noobs, players who are here to just have fun would quit the game because it would be super competitive and not fun for them we would be left with not 100 mil players and 1 million Masters/Preds but say 10 mil player base with still 1 million Masters/Preds (because they would have no complaints and stay) = boosting relative percentage to like 10+ and the whole distribution would shift heavily towards Diamond+ level players.
So it just leaves the conclusion that the majority of Apex community (including Plats) are just THAT bad, noob, lacking of game awareness skills that allow acts like me go straight into Plat/Diamond.Messages from Discord today:
And these are Diamond players!
- @CocoaHyena Dont try to argue with him, he believes the 20% of bronze players are not capable of climbing to silver...
@RevMainPls Don't hide behind other people, either you can talk to me or you don't have a point.
Now, let's talk, While what you say sounds absurd on the surface, it points to the same for real problem of a certain perspective. Yeah, mathematically you're right, no loss means easiest to climb. But you know what? A lot of people CAN'T if you look at the stats. And that is sad in one way, but also yeah, sorry, part of the stats.
Probably, it's more a matter of time. But it does take time, and some people are BAD, by absolute definition. Bronze is a small category of players who play ranked and yet don't or actually cannot get to silver, for whatever reason that may be. And if you are silver or higher, you are absolutely better than a bronze player there is no question about it.
So, what you say, is actually completely accurate, even though you were trying to be sly.
@KelRieverI dont see the point of talking to you, i said what i had to say before and brought up a statistic thats shows a giant amount of players beeing bronze after over a month of the split, anyone that seriously believes they are trying to climb is delusional...
Most of thoose profiles will be inactive, the same can be said to alot of the silver profiles aswell
You seem to forget that we dont have placementmatches meaning all start on the bottom and everyone stopping after a couple of games will falsely influence the statistic. because they are not playing they should be excluded but they keep the rank so they stay in that statistic
But its okay, consider urself an above avg apex player.I from now on will consider myself a professional Football player because i played football for 9 years, and mostlikely i am better than 98% of humanity, but compared to actual footballplayers i suck. But by your logic i can count anyone into this statistic that ever shot a ball
@RevMainPls It is all about having the correct perspective. I don't know your football story but it is fair to say even if you 'sucked' as a college football player and played for a Big 10 team as a starter, you are freaking awesome. You definitely are 'bad' by comparison to a pro player, but you are a million times better than a high school player who couldn't get on a college team. And a high school starter football player may 'suck' by comparison to a college player, but it going to be a better than average football player.
So, again, it's actually a proper point, no matter how you don't prefer to look at things that way. And it's kind of inappropriate for college starters to walk around talking about how much a high school starter 'sucks'. It comes across as bullying and really, that is also kind of what diamond players trashing on Plat players and below are doing.
- @RevMainPls 😂😂
@EREGDS well said. Correct, how you described yourself, is what I would consider "average" and why even average players can climb Plat. All it takes is some situational awareness, decent decision making, and hitting a few shots to climb to Diamond.
Personally, I consider a noob a level 100(ish) and below player, and a Vet someone at at 500.
If the argument is Plat players aren't noobs, thats probably correct. If the argument is that they are "average" I would argue they are well below average. And having a slightly more competitive atmosphere and RP buy-in per match sheds light on that fact. @CocoaHyena Average isn’t an opinion, average is the middle by definition. So they aren’t noobs or average.
I get what you are saying but it’s really just supporting my point. If you are representing roughly 25% or less of the high end of the player base, your perspective can be demented if you call other players below you or bad. It doesn’t mean you are yourself a bad player at all. But it’s a wrong place to refer to the rest of the player base if you keep talking about it like it is established.
Not everyone can climb plat. I’m level 500 and have a kd of 1.2 most seasons in pubs. I have tried since season one to get to plat 3 and have never made it. On the way through gold I can often get a 20% win rate and I have finally given up this season and just play pubs. I don’t solo queue either but end playing with people I meet in pubs that get to diamond or masters. Every one of them says anyone can get to diamond and all I need to do is play with them but no one has been successful. I hate ranked and can’t climb passed plat 4. I have tried every strategy but just can’t get kills in ranked. The closest I have got was by hiding to last 3 most games but that took forever and then a few games of being killed straight away made me give up as it took too long. I don’t have the mentality for ranked and it stresses me out. I think the football analogy from the other person is very clear. If you get to diamond then you are way better than most players and just because you find it doable doesn’t mean it is easy. Rant over.
- @KelRiever sorry I didn't read all the posts in the discussion but I read your first post, if I may I would like to share some of my experience.
The first time I soloed to diamond in season 3 was when I was actually aiming at pred but I failed, then didn't bother with ranked for a few seasons then started again in seasons 8,9, and 10.
This season I didn't even want to play ranked but I will say it as a joke, I played ranked only on-demand, which means I play ranked when my friends wanted me to be with them and yesterday I hit diamond again.
What I learned from all of that, gold-ranked is a piece of cake for everyone with 1 and above KDR and it can be played like playing PUBS.
plat 4 and above you need to start focusing, no more hot drops, no more rushing a team without making sure that it's 100% winnable, no more loot as you go and you need to hit your shots.
from plat to diamond is a doable solo queue but it's more demanding in terms of time and energy but it's a lot ....a lot easier with a team and but also you need a team that you sync with.
I used to run with two guys who sorry to say I couldn't keep going with them (none of the forum members).
Once you reach diamond then it's a different universe, it requires a different mentality, skills, more energy and time.
Your margin of mistake forgiveness gets almost to 0, one mistake and it’s all over.
Currently, I run with two masters in PUBS, and a lot of times they really surprise when they win a fight which I find it to be unwinnable from my point of view but they still manage to do it.
Their movement is better, smoother, more precise, and calculated.
And their aim is better, and no matter how fancy the movement is if the aim is trash then it's a waste of energy.
I got another friend who I call ACEU 2.0 because of his movement especially on zip lines but unfortunately, when it comes to hitting shots he is a meh and it is the reason why he loses most of his fights.
Team combination is very important as well; as an example.....ranked in storm point you MUST have a valkery in the team.
You cannot run around with random legends whose abilities are not related to each other and expect to win the match unless you get lucky.
Regarding the distribution of player base ranks, I have no idea about it but after the removal of old dive trails from previous seasons, I noticed a huge decrease in diamond, master and pred trails.
Previously I used to feel that everyone got to diamond whenever I drop from the ship as when I look at the sky I see trails everywhere but now I barely see 10 or 15 tops that's my only observation regarding this
So in short, once you hit plat you need to take it easy, slowly, and only take calculated action and hit your shots and lastly running with a team is way better and easier.
🙂 @Mr_Mi5ch13f_2you already gave a few hints in your comment why you can't get past P4:
- it takes too long, probably you are impatient in fights as well and take too many unnecessary risks, run into 1 vs multiple because you failed to stop and survey the surrounding, etc.
- it takes too long meaning that you want fast progress like in gold or below level = 1 game boom you get max KP TOP 5 finish 100+ RP... e.g. it took me ~4 days of constant daily playing for 6-8h to go from P1 to D4 that's 600 RP in 4 days or 125 RP on average per day. So ask yourself a question how much time would be too long to go from P4 say to D4 = 2400 RP? Probably answer legit for you to try would be a week or something 🙂
Also, people can't comprehend that if it would be easy, everyone would do it which in turn would bring everyone into say Diamond or Masters and devalue that rank and everyone would like to be in Pred and again wouldn't be able to make there FAST.https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion/Why-am-I-not-improving-in-apex/m-p/11101102#M192460 read this article, I would bet you are the same story as this dude and you both have a lot to do and a lot more potential, the question is - do you care to put the effort in, are you mentally ready for the grind. Most aren't thus most are not good players in this community no matter their level, thus people in Diamond who get there easy yet knowing that they are not ideal do say comments like mentioned here.
Adding to what @maximas1986 said - KDR in this game is in my opinion not the best variable, display of the skill, given how kill is being awarded:
- on one spectrum side you have a 1 damage 1 kill
- on the other you have all the damage in the world and kill being snatched by teammates or 3rd party because you were healing, knocked or shot dead in the process
Also, I for example never make a nub mistake that really ticks my nerves - finishing an enemy during an ongoing battle (especially love those who try to go through blue and higher knock-down shields straight on) given there is no need for armor swap. From KDR perspective finishing people is a must, from winning a game more often than not it is a crucial mistake that makes say 3 vs 2 into 2v2 or even worse 2v2 into 1v2 against you.
E.g. my KDR currently is at 0.6 and I am competitive in Diamond lobbies - pair me up with decent teammates (that know the basics, win say 1 out of 3 1v1s, nothing major) and I can go well into the Diamond territory.
The rest I totally agree especially the part about hitting shots - many people will reference Aceu and other pros especially in arguments is aim assist superior, overpowering, etc. And no matter the outcome of the discussion you will see bot like movement controller players just erasing your wall jumping super sliding gliding flying parkour master out of the lobbies time and time again 🙂 The same goes with pros - do you often see them outsmart their opponents or do you see some ridiculous 100+m frying with an automatic weapon or 3 shots from wingmen in a row? I personally see mostly the latter, I forgot when I saw something I would go "wow" about and remember to practice that move or tactics.
Apex win = use cover, utilize high ground, bait people, and HIT YOUR SHOTS.

I play exclusively solo ranked and this season is by far the worse when it comes to matchmaking. In p1 90% of my squad mates were p4 or lower, that's not how it's supposed to work. And on top of that the p4 player just brainlessly hot drop because they don't care, they know that they can't get advance from p4, because they're basically gold players so they ruin the games for others who try to rank up.
I play every season, every split and I really don't understand what they did this time, but it's an absolute abomination. - @CroL0co now you see that rank boosting marketing works and people started to spend money not only on skins but also on account boosting 🙂
100 million player base, 99 million kids who don't care about gameplay, rather troll someone.
p.s. 2 days ago had a game on D4 level where my D4 friends took one trident each and were racing around me across all map before we got killed - couldn't escape them even being Octane and using gravity cannons etc. Fun times.
Another dude from discord joined to disconnect at the beginning of the match saying "ha ha ha I dropped a game for you, enjoy minuses"... community of Apex. - CroL0co4 years agoNew Veteran
@EREGDS That's why we need tier drop in ranked, so that you can drop from Diamond to Plat etc. That way the "league 4 guys", no matter what tier they are, wouldn't troll the games as much. Now they know that they can't get any higher and on the other side the ranked system is keeping them in current tier so they can do whatever they want.
@Mr_Mi5ch13f_2I tried in S6, I gave up since the progress was rather slow. Not recounting my S2 experience of getting my noob Plat IV arse handed back to me, after that I would quit playing after reaching Platinum.
First two times in S7 and S8, it took me two weeks of 3 hour per session/day to climb Platinum to diamond. 3rd time it took me about 22 hrs over the course of a week on Worlds Edge.
It is frustrating as hell, sometimes you will lose 200 RP in a row and then get a win to neutralize the loss by the end of session. All that effort for 0 RP net. If you know you can fight well, just focus on positioning/rotation. Retreat at the first sign of third party, you can't do much against a full team. Some people forget that and end up dying when they could have survived and got more points for whole team. If I get a hotdropper on my team, I just take the loss(most hotdrops end up like that) and move on to the next game.I truly believe rank protection is a really bad feature to the rank system and that we have to suffer it becaus they have no better way of solving low player count for ranked matchmaking.
I wish there were a way to remove it and keep the game healthy (enough matches being made Diamond lobbies+) but I truly doubt it, I hope they dare to "test" it one season or maybe for just 1 split now with crossplay in effect.
It would strike a heavy blow to boosting services, sure you can pay to boost to Diamond or Masters to get the badge but you would not be able to play the lobbies for long if you can get dropped out of ranks. That is a win win win becaus it would be a less attractive deal.
Solo players who always solo to a certain rank would not suffer much from having rank protection removed, they would always make progress towards their level of skill and hopefully more people would play ranked as ranked is intended, play to win.
Side note:
I also strongly recommend making badges to show in which game mode/rank they got earned, to remove some of the attraction to having people buying badge boosts.
20 Bomb gained in D+ lobbies would speak a great deal more about how good the player actually is, now we are flooded with the highly sought after badges and maybe 1 out of 10 actually play like they earned it. Having them show where you gained them might drop sales on their boosting services.
You could dissect player stats more to put some preassure on alot of stat farming aswell, like it is only interesting for other players to see how many kills you have in your highest rank gained etc.
@CroL0co/ @Thorleifs yeah, I don't get why there is such thing as rank protection... matchmaking - well what's the point of having quick bad games one after another vs waiting 20 min for one you know will be good?
Somehow EA seems to prioritize cry baby needs over quality - nubs who got boosted want to troll P+ level lobbies or somehow dream to belong there after being boosted enough times (yeah like 100 maybe), Preds cry about waiting time so they get fed "nub" Diamond randoms vs set Pred squads... I guess we - people who are fed and fed up with what is going on - are just indeed minority ☹️
@Thorleifsbadges :D I removed them all, removed the trail, and never care to read what badges do I get. Even if I make it to Masters I would stick with no badge and trail for it either. This system of mindf#% and badges is just insane and creates so many game experience issues :/
Tier protection does make issues for some as it allows noobs to be stuck in a rank and puts them on good player's team. However a GOOD player will IGL or just learn to conform to the bad teammate to make the most out of it. My promotion game into masters was a P2 and a hardstuck D4 teammates and we did very well tbh.
@IAvoxI This is an excellent reply. My playing buddy solo-q'd a smurf account to Masters this split on PS5, his first time taking ranked at all seriously. I asked him about a lot of the typical complaints one hears about solo queuing ranked. He said he experienced very few of them - primarily because he used his mic from before the match started. He said that overwhelmingly, his team mates were willing to listen to his callouts due to his establishing a rapport and leading if necessary. I realize that not everyone has a personality which can glue randoms together, but it sure worked for him. Very few of his games involved him ratting by himself for placement.
Yep most teammates are decent at the game and like I discussed with my friend. The higher rank you get in the game is not necessarily a SKILL gap from lower ranks. It's a MENTAL thing. You have to just be able to make decisions extremely quickly and be aware of everything. That's like I used to play Rocket League and there are some insane mechanics that allow you to do some nutty trick shots that are unpredictable. When I really grinded that game I was Grand Champ (highest rank at that time) and my mechanics were nothing compared to some of my friends that were like platinum/diamond area. I had good ball control ground or air but not much more than that. No ceiling shots and no flip resets. The difference was I knew when and when not to do certain things and they just didn't.
