I personally don't see the issue here.
If you're getting stressed as jumpmaster then it's pretty logical to assume the other players are also encountering this.
They relinquish it to you so they don't have to deal with the stress of being a jumpmaster.
Next to that, they might not be great at jumping as they don't know the exact numbers to jump at, or maybe they lack the technique.
So they might trust in you being the jumpmaster as you might seem more experienced.
I don't see a flaw with this system, it's just that players get too nervous to do something for their team, which is something that could be solved easily by ourselves.
Players really won't get mad because you're jumping somewhere, you're the jumpmaster after all, it's your call.
You don't have to think at all when making this decision, you were put in charge so they put up with it.
Otherwise you can always relinquish and drop solo out of the ship if it's too much.
