@Unitee01 You're clearly not paying that close attention here, except for when you seek out @reconzero and I to tell us how we play the game wrong and are having bad wrong fun.
If you were paying attention, you'd realize I have uninstalled from PC months ago (shortly after Catalyst release) and play so little on PS4 that I have yet to unlock a character on it that was not given out free from an anniversary.
rEAspawn made it clear they don't want casuals with their matchmaking, and I in fact did leave for games that better respect my time.
And how freaking slanted the few matches I have played on PS4 this season, how utterly destroyed those lobbies were by one or 2 players (you know, lobbies that should be around level 20) tells me the churn is getting really bad and the game is now mostly Types 1, 2, and 3.
And it totally is rEAspawn's matchmaking, because I can play Crucible and Gambit in Destiny 2 and while I don't get the top kills on my team, I am always able to contribute at least double digits.
- Frankencooler3 years agoSeasoned Rookie@Kyldenar I totally agree and would be more than happy with simply 'Hot Drop: Yes or No."
- Zulkiers3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Kyldenar Yes. Makes sense.
I do agree with those matchmaking ideas, I'd definitely use it.
I also agree with the increase/expansion of penalties to quitters. It's a team game don't quit before they can get you up again.
As for @Unitee01, they miss the point of this entire article. It's not originally about the level of skill shown by players, but about the team-play of people joining in a team.
Abandoning your team to do your own thing is an issue, but not the main issue, and can lead to survival of someone to the end when the rest gets partywiped. So that's hardly an issue. Just don't quit especially when their a support who can craft your banner and reinstate the team to survive to the end.
Honestly I like spectating once I'm gone so that I get an additional 1000 XP if my living teammates who can't bring me back make it all the way to top 5. That XP bonus is huge and if you spectate to the end you claim it as well, not just the miniscule for quitting at 17th place.
And, I've had a time where I died around 16th, was crafted, respawned around 5th, and survived to the win. GOT THE WIN INSTEAD OF 16TH PLACE!!!!
That's why people shouldn't quit so early. They have the chance to spectate to the end and claim a win, but they always quit around 15th.
I'm ranting again. - HappyHourSumwur3 years agoSeasoned Ace@reconzero On that last point I would if I felt like I had any chance in this game as a solo or even a duo in Trios, but I don't.

I'm not trying to suggest that you'll win tons of trios matches without squadmates. But you can win some of them. And the ones you don't win are, like any match, a learning experience. But the first step is to completely rework your playstyle and match goals, at least for matches without squadmates. You have to "rat," as the fools call it. It's derogatory shorthand for "play smarter, more cautiously, and avoid fights until they're unavoidable." It's 99% position based, and 1% gun skills based. Not something most players have the patience for, but it will harden you in ways that pay off later, even when you have a full team. Food for thought. - Zulkiers3 years agoSeasoned Ace
@reconzeroI do that all the time. I prefer stealth over bloodbath. I have one of those device/internet setups that are trash for competitive gameplay and it tends to cost me dearly in full on fights.
I take great sniper positions and I can deal plenty of damage while my city-dwelling allies go in and finish them off.
I'm rural, I live in the woods. Best plan available out here is 15Mb DSL. Can't wait for the Gb-Fiber in over two years.
Anyways, I rely on my allies to win. I can do well with snipers but close quarters is a meat grinder against me.
Lately though, I've found I'm better at jumping in with NewCastle to keep my allies alive or revive them in the midst of battle.
Jump on them with Castle Wall, deploy that drone, start reviving, and they can touch us unless they bust one of the 3 corners of my setup that's protecting us as I revive my ally. Be it a portion of Castle Wall, some of my drone's shield, or my revive shield.
So some of the issues some people may experience is about the tech a person has or is available to them. Like mine. Until more is available for my area there's nothing I can do about it.
Where was I going with this?... ...
Oh right. Stealth has lead me to victory, or at least close to, several times. Bloodbath always limits me to 16th or less.
So should Bloodbath lovers and stealth lovers que together or separate?
Together, as is now, broods a lot of hate. Separate would make it more enjoyable, as bloodbath lovers wouldn't ruin the game for the stealth lovers. - reconzero3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Zulkiers
"Together, as is now, broods a lot of hate."
This is, for me at least, the born cross of matchmaking. I'm getting very impatient with less experienced teammates who want FRAG, ESTATES, STORM CATCHER, and absolutely nothing else. I hate their hot drops (and won't join them) and they hate my cold drops and will either a) break off mid jump b) run toward danger as soon as they hit the ground c) quit d) whine until they make ME quit e) all of the above.
Playstyle-based matchmaking is the way forward.
@hayhor wrote:@reconzeroI play no fill all the time. I never have a 10 minute wait for a queue. The longest it goes is 2 or 3 minutes usually. If you queue with a team and do your own thing the majority of the time while being annoyed I say just no fill.
Obviously this is not an option in ranked 😅
- @Lord_Scorpion34 If it was I'd probably play it.
- @hayhor I will admit so far this split I've gotten farther & points solo either cuz my team died early on or cuz I chose not to follow them.
