0x887a0006: DXGI ERROR DEVICE HUNG

Hi,

I use an AMD Ryzen RX 5700xt GPU and,

I have recently been experiencing a crash with the error: 0x887a0006: DXGI ERROR DEVICE HUNG

This happens at seemingly random points in-game, causing the game to freeze, crash and an error on AMD Software: Adrenaline notifying me that my drivers have crashed and reset. This is an issue unique to Apex Legends, as this does not happen on any other games (even more GPU/CPU intensive ones such as Elden Ring, etc).

Up until the crash the game runs perfect performance wise, with no stutters or lag. This leads me to believe that this is a software issue, combined with the fact that my temps do not exceed 70c during this time, and usually run at about 40.

I have researched this crash extensively, and it seems that this is an issue specifically with AMD drivers, and possibly the RX line of GPUs. However, there has been no official response or answers to this query, and every different proposed solution I have tried has led to absolutely no results. This includes;

-downgrading drivers - I am currently on Adrenaline 22.5.1, and have tried both updating to the experimental branch, and installing older versions - however, the crash remains

-changing game settings such as Vsync, spot shadows etc - while this seemed to help at first, the crashes remained

-changing config files in the Apex directory on my PC - this has had no effect

-reinstalling, verifying the game files on steam - no change

-starting with a clean boot - this has had no effect

-adjusting maximum voltage and frequency on Radeon Adrenaline - this led to drivers crashing even before I could get into a match, although this is likely an error on my part

This crash has also been happening prior to Apex Legends: Hunted and I could not notice an increase or decrease in crash frequency after the update, so I do not believe that to be the issue.

If anyone could offer a solution that worked for them, or even a temporary fix to reduce the frequency of crashes I would be eternally grateful.

    @justvibingbruh  @StykxTV  I have a minor update on this. The EA team is aware of, and looking into this issue in general. It appears to be a GPU driver issue, so they have currently recommended a full reinstall or trying older drivers. It looks like you have already tried these methods though, so I'm not sure if that will better your situation. Hopefully there is more information or a fix, in the near future. I'll be sure to update, if I do see anything. Sorry I couldn't help out more!
