Apex Legends Connection Issues (Console)

I've been having connection issues in Apex for a while now. Said issue is the red icon that indicates there's a problem of connection with the server. This happens constantly every game, every 30 seconds average (I timed it). Sometimes I also get the packet loss red icon, although this one rarely displays. The following are the solutions I've tried that have me scratching my head since after trying them I have no idea what is causing the issue.

I've always played with a wired connection so my console has the best speed my internet service can offer.

I supposedly play on the optimal server for me which shows an average of 30-33 kms ping and 0% packet loss. I've tried changing servers which have a slightly higher ping but the game feels almost the same. Sometimes it feels worse and sometimes better, but the issue is still happening constantly.

I also changed Internet provider and got a better service with higher speed (200 mbps download and 20 mbps upload), but the issue didn't get any better in the slightest.

I've also uninstalled the game and downloaded it again 3 times by now.

Additional clues: Some of my friends also have this issue, one of them even lives on the United States in the very same state as the server is in and my friend still has this issue so the problem is not proximity to the server related.

I have a friend on Playstation that also has this problem so it's also not console related.

I also have friends that don't have this issue or have it happening once a month and not every game, every 30 seconds like me.

Also this issue wasn't this bad when I started playing the game but seems to be getting worse with each season.

I've also tried playing on different times of the day and the issue still happens.

This is the only game that has this issue. No other game has this lag moments which frankly are ruining the game for me.

I can't stand this lags anymore, they are killing me because they show in the middle of a fight and freeze my screen for a few seconds just to have me dead when it's over or about to die. I'm lucky if I can finish a team fight within thirty seconds so I lag after the fight is over and not in the middle of it. It happens regardless if I'm playing battle royale or Arenas.

If anyone has any idea of what may be the cause of this issue or how I can solve this I would be really thankful. I really don't want to leave this game since I like it very much and have spent money on it over the years.

    Hi there, @PacusQ115.

We should go through some connection troubleshooting to rule out any issues on your end. What system are you playing on? Also, if you've performed any troubleshooting, let me know which steps so we can avoid repeating those. Thanks!

  • I play on Xbox One. Every solución I've tried I've already detailed. My connection is wired and my service is stable. Every other game I play is fine so it's not my internet connection.

Thanks for the response. All I can do is troubleshoot your connection. If you change your mind on that, let me know.

  • I've tested my connection múltiple times and it always shows that everything is fine and all service are available. If there is any specific settings I have to have in my router (like opening certain ports) I'm open to do so. I'll try anything at this point. Tell me what I need to do and I'll do it. There's no troubleshooting button in the game as far as I know, but if there is one, then guide me through it and I'll do what you want.

Without knowing what steps you took already, we'll just have to start over from the beginning. If you're cool with that, let me know. Otherwise, you can try opening the ports for Apex. They are listed here. Also, in your router settings, see if QoS (Quality of Service) is available. Make sure it's enabled if so.

  • I have opened every port listed on the articles, but the issue remains. What should I try next?

Thanks for getting back to me. Let's see if alternate DNS settings will help. From the Xbox One screen, go to Settings > Network > Advanced settings > DNS settings > Manual. (If Settings doesn't appear on the home screen, select My Games & Apps, then Settings). From there, enter the Primary DNS as "208.67.222.222" and the Secondary DNS as "208.67.220.220". If that doesn't help, try using the google DNS servers which are: primary alt number 8.8.8.8 - secondary alt number 8.8.4.4. Let me know what happens.

  • The first dns adress didn't work. And I had already tried the google one with no success either. What else can I try?

Do you have a PC by chance? If so let’s find out how your connection is reaching our servers. Can you run a UO Trace and screenshot the results? Instructions are here.
