Apex stutter then CTD

So this is getting very very frustrating. The past few weeks, I have had Apex crash if not every single game, every other at best. I might get a slight stutter or freeze, sometimes not, but an instant complete crash to desktop without any error message.

I'm on PC, I have tried fresh installs, different clients and a complete smorgasbord of settings. All result in direct crash to desktop. Drivers are up to date. The only thing running in the background tray is MSI Afterburner.

System Specs:

Windows 10

nVidia 1070 with 8GB ram

Ryzen 3600

32 GB ram, 3200 mhz in an XMP profile.

Game is installed on a pretty new 1TB Western Digital SSD. I've tried installing on the other SSDs.

Really hope someone has an idea or suggestion. Apex is generally one of my favourite games. But at this point it feels unplayable because whats the point? Why play if this thing dies mid drop, mid gunfight or in my last game - directly after hitting my Valk ult. Think of the poor poor Wattson that was flying with my now DC-ed self.

  • @FickleAimD88 I've noticed that if you have crashes or problems with the game MSI Afterburner / Rivatuner are usually the main culprits.
Try disabling them both and see if this fixes your issue.
  • Tried this today, issue of stuttering then crashing direct to desktop is still happening. Crashed twice in an hour, and I have uninstalled both Afterburner and Riva Tuner. Honestly I am at a loss at this point.

  • I have a very high end PC here are specs

    Asus 570x-i

    AMD 5600x (stock clock)

    Vengeance Corsair Pro 32GB (16x2) 3600mhz ram in D.O.C.P

EVGA RTX 3080FTW3 Ultra stock clock not OC profile

    Intel NVMe 512GB C:drive

    Samsung 4TB SSD

I have horrid stuttering no matter how I play with video settings. Streaming is ultra but the rest of the settings are extremely low. I am frame limited due to refresh rate at 144hz on monitor but I am not playing with RTSS or NVIDIA to lock framerate. I run without v-sync and get micro stutters. I have done absolutely everything to try and fix the issue. Are you saying that my D.O.C.P. could be the culprit?

    Thanks

  • @EA_AticSo what seems to be working for me, after a fresh install and going through all the guides, I have disabled fullscreen optimizations and all that. I also turned off the CPU game boost in the BIOS and that seems to have done the trick. Hasnt crashed to desktop in about a week or so.
