Banned from Apex, but haven't played in over a year?

Hello,

Today I was scrolling through my email and noticed I received an email from EA.  Inside was the following message:

Hello,

We noticed that your EA account broke EA’s gameplay rules.

Because your account was cheating, we’ve permanently blocked your access to Apex Legends’ online features.

Now, I haven't played Apex since the release of Octane and Wattson.  I believe I played one single game when the first new map came out.  Since then, I haven't played.  You can even see my last in-game achievement was March 2019.  Back on April 1st I decided to reinstall the game because a few friends said they wanted to get back into the game.  I loaded up the game and played one of the training matches just to mess around with the new weapons and gear that have been added since I last played.  After playing around with the training mode, I quit playing for the night, and haven't opened up the game since.

Now I hear my account has been banned?  Originally I wasn't too upset as I haven't played in quite a while... but then I started thinking about all the money I put into new heroes, skins, loot boxes, founders packs, and all my exclusive skins from Twitch and such.  I really don't want to lose all that for nothing.  I've been nothing but an honest gamer, and have even participated in EA Playtesting, and been an avid EA Play subscriber (before it went to Game Pass).  I've never cheated, and haven't even been playing the game to be picked up for cheating.  I tried to find a way to look up game history to see if someone has been using my account, but there doesn't appear to be a way to do so... but if there is any game activity in the past couple years, it hasn't been me.  I just also think it's weird that I received this message just a couple weeks after opening the game for the first time in years.

I should also add that I just went and changed my password today and added 2FA to my account in case my account was compromised.

    Hi there, @SHADOWSTRIKE1.

It's possible your account was hacked. For assistance with that, please see the following article. Also, for assistance with banned accounts, take a look at the instructions here. Thanks!

Thanks, I sent out the email to support over the weekend when I first stumbled on the email.  So I guess I'm just waiting on a response from them.... I just really hope I get someone who looks into the issue rather than a generic "you were banned for breaking the rules" response.  That would make me worry about even opening a new account as I wouldn't be sure what could be setting it off.  Though there is no way I'd make a new account after I've put a decade into this one and made many purchases on it.

And yeah, I went and changed my password and added the Login Verification after seeing this happen.

Every dispute is thoroughly investigated. We don't like to take action on accounts, but can't have people breaking the rules. If you didn't have two-factor authentication enabled, that's going to make your account a lot easier to be hacked. It's a lot more secure now that you've enabled it. It would be good to contact an advisor so they can investigate your account for possibly being hacked.

Thank you, that's reassuring to hear they will look into my case thoroughly.

I did go and download my EA data, and it appears that just in the last two days, there were 9 attempts to log into my account from an unknown IP... The logins failed (I'm assuming because I've changed my account info).  But the geolocation tags appear to be targeting the login locations being from Karachi, Osmangazi, Qaraghandy, Blida, Astana, Medan, Ha Noi, etc.  I'm over here in the US, so these certainly aren't me.

It sounds like your email address was discovered and people have been trying to log in using it. An advisor can investigate your account for signs of unauthorized logins.
