Can't establish an EA to Steam connection!

To EA Support,

This EA account that I'm currently using (which I just created with my current email address) cannot link to my Steam account because the Steam account is linked to an old and now defunct/deleted email address.

I am in a catch 22 because I cannot log in to EA.com with the old email's credentials (which I have forgotten the password for and would have to guess anyway) - and because the login requires a 2FA code to be sent to the deleted email address as verification to even let me in even if I did correctly guess the password!

I used the old EA account with Apex (which I no longer play), and wish for that old EA connection to my Steam account to be deleted (and that old EA account even to be deleted), so that I can link this newly created EA account I'm using now to my same Steam account - because I now play BF6 on EA servers.

This is a bit of a conundrum that I would like to solve. I am primarily thinking of security - as the new data from BF6 (of which the game I've found does actually work with the old EA account that's linked to Steam) - might become compromised if it's going to an old and possibly recycled account that I am no longer in control of.

So whilst as stated, I can still play BF6 with this old EA connection to my Steam account - it is far from ideal and what I would ilke to happen.

I hope you can assist, and I look forward to your response.

  • TerraHMR This one is a bit tricky, (so please read carefully):

For updating your old EA Account's email address, you can contact EA Support to recover that old EA Account:

Afterwards, you would want to update the email address on that old EA Account instead of deleting it as your Apex progress and data is stored on that old EA Account, (and even if you no longer care about Apex, your BF6 progress and data may also be saved on that old EA Account as well, (which would mean that the deletion of that old EA Account would be a deletion of your BF6 progress and data)).

Note: With the 2FA being in place on the old EA Account, it may be tricky, (or impossible), to recover that old EA Account.

However, if you play BF6 on your new EA Account, (and you do not care about your old EA Account's Apex progress and data), then you can either delete your old EA Account or unlink the Steam Account from it after you recover that old EA Account.

Note: Keep in mind that switching platform links around will not transfer, (or merge), game progression, data, achievements, etc. from one EA Account to another, so if you play BF6 through Steam, then deleting your old EA Account, (or unlinking your Steam Account), would cause an issue with your BF6 progression and data if that is stored on the old EA Account.

If any of the above was confusing, (or I had misunderstood something), feel free to ask questions.

I wish you the best of luck with recovering your old EA Account!
