Cosmetic Items and progress lost after linking PS Account to EA Account

I used to play a lot of Apex on my PS4 with a PS Account. This Account was linked to my Origin Account. I used the same Origin Account on PC and had a different progress on PC. Since the EA Accounts came, my Origin Account became my EA Account. I kept playing on the PC since then with this EA Account and I kept my own progress as well as cosmetic items (different to the PS Acount). When I linked my PS Account to the same EA Account (for the first time and without unlinking the PS from any Account) because I've read that I could keep playing on PC with the progress of my PS Account, if i merged them. But I am stuck with the progress of my Account from my PC and my PS progress is lost. None of the cosmetic items (with exception to the Guardian Angel Lifeline Bundle) tranferred from the PS Account to my EA Account.

I have never linked my PS Account to any other EA Account until then. I used the same E-Mail adress on PS, Origin and EA. I've read a lot of Topics on Answers HQ, but almost all of them talk about cases, when people unlinked a PS Account from an old EA Account. I never had an old EA Accoun tto begin with. I also created a new topic here, but I haven't received an help, so I try again now. The official EA support just closed my case without a single word of advice.

My PSN ID is dozy_koala just like my EA ID dozy_koala.

My PS Account should have been linked to the Origin account (ID: dozy_koala) that became the EA account. But it is the exact same EA account, I used on PC before the cross platform merging. It is also the same account that I linked my PSN account yesterday.

I haven't received any error message or warning message for unlinking. When I linked my PSN account to my EA account yesterday, there also wasn't any warning or error message showing.

I'd be glad, if someone helped me recover my PS proggress on my EA Account for PC. Thank you in advance!

    Hey @dozy_koala,

It wouldn't be possible for your PSN to have never been linked, as if you played Apex it would have prompted you to link it to an account in the past. So you're likely right in that your Origin account (later EA account) had your PSN linked initially.

With that said, I do see the PSN was unlinked from this account a couple years ago back in 2022, though it was later re-linked at some point and potentially again re-linked earlier this month.

Any time the account is unlinked there's a possibility of losing your game progress, so it's likely this progress was lost at one of those points. While making sure any platform accounts are re-linked can often restore that progress, that's not always guaranteed.

If this was the original account and re-linking the PSN here has not restored the progress, I'm afraid that would be lost. If there was another account that it may have been linked to in the past, you could try re-linking it there instead to see if the progress is restored, but we wouldn't have any way to manually grant or restore any progress that's not otherwise appearing unfortunately.

    Hi @dozy_koala,

Just wanted to confirm here. You've mentioned not having your PSN linked to a different account multiple times, but you also mentioned twice that you just linked it to this EA account the day before your post.

Where was it linked to before then?
  • Hi @EA_Mako, I'm so glad you've replied!

I only linked my PSN once to my EA Account named dozy_koala. It seems to me that the PSN was linked to my Origin account before that, because I must have registered somehow on to Apex Legends. The Origin account (dozy_koala) that corresponded to my PSN (dozy_koala) is although the exact same account as my EA Account, because it's the one that has been transformed into the EA Account when Origin became EA.

So either my PSN has never been linked to any account before I've linked it to my EA Account or it was linked to the same Origin account that became the EA Account. In this latter case the PSN has been linked to the exact same account it already was was linked to.

Hopefullly I could explain my case good enough. I'm hoping to hear from you soon! Thanks in advance!

  • Hi @EA_Mako thanks for you help and sorry for the late reply.

I can't figure how my PSN was supposed to get unlinked from my Origin/EA account back in 2022. And even in some miraculous way it has been unlinked: you mentioned that it's not possible for an account to have never been linked. So how could my account have been unlinked without directly linking it to another account? I definetely have never owned another EA account so I couldn't have linked my PSN account to another EA account. So how does the unklinking happen in the first place and how was my account existing without being linked?

Secondly it really doesn't make sense where my progress is supposed to get lost. The progress data has to be on one of the two accounts. Either the PSN or the Origin/EA one. So now after the supposedly unlinking my account being linked to the same EA account, the progress has to be there now that the two only accounts (from which one of them HAS to have the progress stored) are merged.

Having an EA account linked to the PSN and playing on the same EA account on PC is the typical case, what could happen to a player before cross progression. Not owning two separate EA accounts for PS and PC gaming. Especially if having two EA accounts and linking a PSN account from one another definitely loses the progress and shouldn't be done. How is it then possible that EA can't handle the cross progression in the absolute typical case cross progression was meant for in the first place. There is legit no use case for cross progression, if cross progression doesn't work in my case as stated above.
