[CRITICAL] Season TAKEOVER Application is corrupt on PlayStation 4 Pro

Hello everyone,

I could not report this problem through the PlayStation reporting system, so I am here reporting.

This is the first season in which I have encountered this type of crash. It brings up a message that the application is corrupted and that it should be deleted and reinstalled. There is no error code, just a message with a button to close the application. And that's what I did.

I have attempted to launch the game soon after, but the screen turns black at the attempt of log-in.

The next thing that I have attempted to do is to restart the PlayStation 4 Pro. After this, I have launched the game and was able to log-in into the game and play some more, until it crashed again, telling you that the application is corrupted.

This corruption has corrupted the Apex Legends save file, but not only that, also EVERY OTHER VIDEOGAME SAVE FILE. It has ruined every single one of my playthroughs.

This is critical and must be fixed and the game is unplayable.

The season is associated with fps drops up to 30fps and very bad connectivity with ms going above 100ms.

I have reinstalled the application, but the crash occurred again with the same error message telling me to reinstall.

I would like also to mention that on PlayStation 4 Pro I am able to play the game when the HD textures have not been downloaded yet. With no HD textures the error did not occur. Maybe this is not a correlation with proof, but maybe your new graphics engine is the problem or It is just some bad programming.

Please fix ASAP.

On another note, after reinstalling, recoil when shooting was almost non existant, but after a while came back to 'normal' . When the recoil was less, finally I was able to beam people for 200 damage. Very satisfying. Can you look into your recoil algorithm. The game could use some more precision.

  • I tried another fully installed game. Fortnite.

I just had, after several games, the same error. Application is corrupted.

I would conclude that the problem is on my end. My PlayStation has problems.

Sorry for the inconvenience guys. My bad.

  • It has reoccurred twice again.

    Once before season takeover's end.

And now with season prodigy I was playing a mixtape game and in the middle of it, it crashed. Same corrupted message.

Is this happening to anybody else? Maybe it's my own issue, but this never occurred before takeover.

    Do you have memory leaks?

Unfortunately I can't defrag and fix the hdd of my ps4. Maybe I should format. I don't know.

  • The application is corrupted. Again.

I have to point out that when you play the game WITHOUT THE HD TEXTURES it does not occur. I can play for hours without the problem occurring. When the HD textures get applied the game brakes it seems.

Can you give the option not to install HD textures? Or well fix the problem?

    I'm re-downloading.

  • I have reinstalled the game, and kept playing for days without rebooting the game to apply the HD textures. Everything was working fine. Then the game froze and forced to quit the game and with that force me to apply the HD textures.

The first ranked game I play after applying the HD textures caused the game to crash and tell me the application is corrupted.

It's probably a memory leak with your new engine and textures and stuff.

Look into it please, the game is broken.

  • I finished a gaming session and turned off the console. Afterwards I came back to play and I couldn't launch the game because it said that the license wasn't agreed upon. I restarted the PlayStation and I was able to launch the game. It Immediately prompted that the save file was corrupted, and I needed to re-agree on the license privacy statement. I reconfigureed all my settings and was able to play some more.

Today, In the middle of a match, the corrupted message appeared. I deleted the game.

I am done for a while with your game cause you won't fix it.

It started last season as this thread proves it.

I had to delete every application off my PlayStation. Everything is corrupted. All my save files. Everything.

    Fix your game.

After 6+ years of development your code should be very stable, not a hot mess.

  • I started having this application is corrupted situation at the season TAKEOVER.

Never had this issue before with my ps4 pro.

As I said before I deleted all applications as they all got corrupted.

I assume is due to apex, but recently I downloaded the free beta of splitgate 2 and after a couple of gaming sessions the application is corrupted message appeared on this game too.

So, I conclude my entire system got corrupted.

Now I am initializing my ps4 pro. A process that deletes everything.

I will downloaded apex again afterwards and keep you posted.

  • I have initialized my ps4 pro. Resetting and deleting everything.

    I have reinstalled apex.

During gameplay in team deathmatch in mixtape WHILE STILL DOWNLOADING THE HD TEXTURES I got the application is corrupted message.

It's either my console or apex.

I will initialize my console again, and try again.

    Will keep you posted.

  • I have initialized my ps4 pro with USB this time.

First thing I have installed is the beta of splitgate 2. It crashed with application is corrupted message.

Then I have installed apex and let the HD textures download too. 1 ranked game, in the middle of it, it crashed with application is corrupted message.

This happens even when HD textures are not installed yet since the recent update of Apex. Before it crashed apparently with the HD textures.

Before TAKEOVER I have never experienced this and I played hundreds of hours on this playstation.

Also, my PlayStation gets worked up (fans kicking in) more on apex now. whenever I play with frame rate drops and so on.

If it's my PlayStation's fault, I apologize to respawn for wasting your time.

If it's on your end of development, you guys should spend a season fixing the performance of the game cause these crashes and performance drops make it unplayable.

I think until the next big apex update I shouldn't post here again.

    Ciao.

  • I tried another fully installed game. Fortnite.

I just had, after several games, the same error. Application is corrupted.

I would conclude that the problem is on my end. My PlayStation has problems.

Sorry for the inconvenience guys. My bad.

  • I have purchased an SSD to substitute the old HDD.

    Reinstalled playstation firmware.

The first thing I install is Apex Legends.

I played the game while the HD textures were still downloading. I experienced a full system shut down, probably due to heat not Apex. As I booted the system again I had to set up the PlayStation all over again. Some stuff I've never experienced.

So I let the whole game download. Then play.

    'Application is corrupted' never appeard.

So the problem was on my end, but as this thread says at the beginning, I played for years with no issues until season TAKEOVER.

I add this post to let you know my solution and also add to your recent video blog post for technical improvements.

    That's it. Bye.
