EasyAntiCheat_EOSSys does not support bypass IO

Hi, I've been experiencing random crashes while playing Apex Legends. Each time it happens, I notice the following entry in the Event Viewer:

File System Filter 'EasyAntiCheat_EOSSys' (Version 10.0, ‎2025‎-‎07‎-‎28T12:13:02.000000000Z) does not support bypass IO. Supported features: 0x4

After this error appears, the game eventually crashes again during gameplay, and I get kicked from the server. This is especially frustrating during ranked matches, as I have to wait to rejoin and often lose progress.

I've tried multiple troubleshooting steps on my own, but I haven’t been able to resolve the issue. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

My system

Graphics Card: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER EAGLE OC
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D with 3D V-Cache Technology
Case: Sahara P75 Black Full ATX Tower
Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 GAMING X AX V2
Power Supply: MSI A850G PCIE 5 Gaming PSU
Memory: G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 32GB DDR5 Kit (2×16GB) @ 5600MHz, CL28
Storage: Samsung 980 PRO NVMe M.2 SSD, PCIe 4.0, 1TB
Cpu cooler Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black, Dual-Tower CPU cooler (140mm, Black)
Monitor: BenQ MOBIUZ EX2710Q — 27", IPS, 1440p, 165Hz, 1ms, HDR400, FreeSync
Mouse: Logitech Superlight Pro
Headset: Logitech Pro X Wireless
Keyboard Logitech g910

Things I've tested this far.

1. Reinstalled windows 11 pro 24h2 also tested 23h2 no joy.
2. Updated all drivers and windows updates.
3. Ran easy anti cheat and Apex as admin.
4. Disabled core isolation
5. Tested loads of nvidea drivers on 577.00 atm.
6. Done a repair on easy anti cheat
7. Removed Amd expo tested no change.

  • I've found a temp fix for this if anyone else is having the same issue. You need to use Nvidea Driver 551.23 and it will stop the crashing for now. Not ideal but it works in apex legends.

Also switch off windows 11 driver updater as it will force a newer driver.

I'm not too familiar with AMX GPUs, but if you're having trouble getting things stable, I'd recommend rolling back to the earliest compatible driver for Windows 11. Then work your way forward until you find the most recent version that doesn't cause crashes. Personally, I haven't had a single crash since switching to GPU driver 551.23. You might want to check the release date for that driver and see which AMD driver was current at the same time — it could help narrow things down.

Battlefield forced me to the latest AMD driver 25.8.1 but was previously on 24.5.1 so I have to change drivers each time I want to load up a EA game to play?

Yeah, I get it—that workaround just isn’t viable for you. Honestly, I’d reach out to EA support directly or post a fresh thread to see if anyone’s found a reliable fix. If I were playing BF6, I’d be running into the same issues myself. We’re both stuck in the same boat until Easy Anti-Cheat rolls out a proper update.

What CoPilot has to say about it.
Root Causes of the “EasyAntiCheat_EOSSys does not support bypass IO” Crash
    1. BypassIO ConflictsBypassIO is a Windows feature introduced to speed up disk access, especially for NVMe drives.
EAC’s EOSSys.sys driver does not support BypassIO, which leads to system instability or game crashes when the feature is active2.

    2. Windows 11 24H2 Update
This update aggressively enables BypassIO for compatible drives.
If you're running this build (e.g., 26100.4652), it may trigger crashes when EAC tries to load during gameplay.

    3. NVMe Drive Firmware or Driver IssuesSome NVMe drives (especially Gen 4 or newer) are more prone to triggering BypassIO.
Even if SMART and surface tests pass, firmware-level I/O instability can cause EAC to fail during runtime.

    4. DirectStorage Conflicts
DirectStorage, another Windows feature for faster asset streaming, may conflict with EAC’s file system filter.
This is especially problematic in games like Fortnite, Elden Ring, or ARK that use both technologies.

    5. DCOM Permission Denials
Event logs often show DCOM errors alongside BypassIO failures.
These permission issues can prevent EAC from initializing properly, leading to crashes
