Game wont let me appear offline in Steam, Voice chat wont mute other pc players

Hello Reader,

I use discord to chat with friends, we all know in game voice chat is terrible, and you can barely hear teammates with the in game VOIP.

I also have some console friends that I play with sometimes, and due to that we are forced to use game chat with them. I cannot mute my other teammate on PC, and his voice echo's so we are forced to talk via in game VOIP chat which isn't the greatest. please fix the mute button so it actually works if I have someone in a discord call I would rather not hear them in game.

I have also noticed there is no way to appear offline in Apex Legends via Steam. I don't like the fact that I am forced to stay online getting multiple invites from people I know. I wanna solo queue, and its kind of disrespectful telling an in person friend who just simply isn't as good as you that you would prefer to play alone. I would like to avoid the situation where someone's feelings are getting hurt for no reason. can someone please make an update or just tell me how I'm dumb and haven't noticed how I can appear offline. I have tried appearing invisible on steam, going through game settings, friends list in game trying to find a way to appear offline, and it simply doesn't seem to be an option via steam unless you use Origin.

I would appreciate some feedback to this issue as I find it unreasonable not to allow players to appear offline via steam.

Platform: PC

Thank you

Cousin Benzo

  • @CousinBenzo_TTVI also noticed that problem several times. I can still hear muted teammates - really annoying when playing with screaming randoms.

  • 'Appear Offline' on Steam issue has already been reported according to the latest respond. However, It seems they have not fixed it with the latest update. YET.

I also can't fathom the pain from random voice chats.Maybe we have to stick with Origin for a little longer.

  • I stay offline w/ origin and crossplay users still see me online. I dont wanna be a arse or anything but sometimes I just wanna solo queue and it seems apex really trying to avoid that

I completely agree with you. Origin, Steam or any other platform make you connect to your acquaintances/friends is a part of the social relationship these days. It is natural that you sometimes need some personal space over them.

Steam doesn't require you to type in the reason- why you want to be not disturbed when you jump into the offline mode and the most games respect it. I really wish Apex Legends could do the very same.
