Random Packet Loss (PC)

Hello!

I finally decided to write a post about packet loss issue I'm having since season 3.

Every random game I enter will start to stutter (with packet loss icon in the top right corner) and stay like that for the duration of the match. This is not FPS lag, this is not delay, it clearly looks as if the server and my PC are not communicating properly and updating ally/enemy locations (they are updated like every 0.5-1sec) even though I can move without problems. Looting, shooting, ally and enemy movements are affected by this and its impossible to play.

I usually immediately drop out of a game or just die early if I see during the flagship that the stuttering is happening and enter new game which is then perfectly fine. This happens too frequently now since S4, I cannot ignore it anymore. It is destroying my and my ally games.

This problem started with release of S3, lasted until release of S4. During S4 introduction, this problem actually completely stopped for a couple of weeks and I thought it was finally fixed. But since kings canyon reintroduction in S4 for the first time, it is now happening again frequently.

I am using a mobile box internet, I am connected to it via cable. Every other game I can play for hours without ping over 50ms, without any stutters, delays...
This only happens with apex legends. Any ideas?

    I'm experiencing the same problem, was fine before and now i keep getting red icons sometimes in the top right corner (not all the time), mostly i don't get them, but i can still feel like the game is stuttering / not smooth, and my fps doesn't drop from 144 where it's capped. It was perfect a like a week ago not sure what's happening

    Hi there.

    We should try running through some troubleshooting to see if it helps with the packet loss you've been seeing. The best place to start would be with the basic connectivity troubleshooting steps over at the EA Help website. 

    If it keeps happening after that try running through the PC-specific steps as well. Let me know if you're still seeing packet loss after that. Thanks!

    Hi Kent,

    I have the exact same issue as Levehzor. It happens every other game and stays for the whole game. If I quit the match immediately and join another match there is no issue at all.

    Sometimes I play 5-10 matches without any issue and then suddenly I get the random packet loss game again. Also lately since seaons 5/6 it got more frequent and i have at least 3-4 packet loss games per evening if I am playing 10-20 matches.

    I have already tried most of the basic connectivity troubleshooting like flushing DNS, restart of router etc. . I also tried port forwarding and changing the data center but all the data centers have 0% packet loss and 10-20 ms ping for me at all time.

    Also checked in my router for any general connectivity issues but everything is just fine. I don't have any issues with packet loss in other games as well.

    I wanted to try the UOTrace application but for that I guess I need the actual Apex server address(es) to test it?

    I am on EU servers.

    Hope you can help me with this issue.

    I appreciate the details!

    Which datacenter are you normally connecting to? Have you had a chance to test any others to see if that makes a difference at all?

    Hi Kent,

    thanks for the quick reply.

    It usually auto selects "Frankfurt I" as it has the best ping for me. I have tried "Frankfurt II" as my buddy is getting this per default, but didn't change anything.

    Havent't tried any other ones yet, cause the ping is "worse" on those, but I will try it today.

    Can you give me a server name or IP address that I should test the IOTrace with or do you think this won't help in my case?

    I have the exact same problem and I noticed this :

    So : top right corner i see the double red squar showing i have like an issue with server, I see everybody mooving like frame by frame. In the worst case scenario, i moove and have an amazing rollback, making even my character not able to do anything, taking object make like a sound loop. Those case are more rare now but it happenend in ranked. The frame by frame mates and ennemies issue is maybe 1 game on 10 I would say. I have them more frequently on ranked game. I am not the only one to have this issue.

    I am playing Apex since the release and I never ever ever saw this issue. It is definitly since season 6 I have this constent issue.

    Is it due to mass cheaters (I don't know if a lot of people cheat in apex or not) ? To some bad servers ?

    I had one game on ranked with this issue, I litteraly saw everybody mooving frame by frame making the game unplayable. Only today in one game, server went back to normal when we had less people alive. So this problem is definitly on EA side, not my internet provider or my computer. I can have those issue early in the morning, afternoon or night. And it is really like 1 game on 10 and more often in ranked.

    And constently with this problem I have this : I die, my teammates die everybody die, I am not able to come back to the lobby, I keep seeing in blurry mode the ennemy playing frame by frame and i have the screen with the message returning to lobby. I have to close the game with an alt+F4 then restart it. Each time I do it I have a first error message regarding the server, I click ok then i am able to connect back to the game with no issue. No report of the previous game nothing on screen.

    Edit : Frankfurt data center too, so is it an issue like no games are found on those servers and we are sent on another one ?

    So now I have tried playing on Amsterdam Datacenter and the 4th game was a packet loss game again. The Datacenter shows a ping of 23 and 0 packet loss in the menu.

    And now that @Amra_gasp is describing his issues in more detail, I realize that I haven't described all the issues that I am facing. When I try to leave such a match or we get killed, I am stuck in "connecting to lobby" as well. Sometimes I reach lobby after maybe 5 minutes or so but mostly I Alt+F4 and get a "Unable to reconnect - reservation timed out" error as well. I confirm it and then I can get back to the lobby. Also the frame by frame feel of the match is identical to what @Amra_gasp described.

    I am experiencing exactly the same issue. im 250down, 100up, very stable optic cable internet from Telekom, Germany.

    I have never had this problem before Season 6.

    I do not believe that this is net issue as I have ran through your troubleshoot program and I will attach the file here with the data from the test.
    As soon as I would alt tab mid game and try to go back I will experience this huge packet loss where people skip infront of me for a full meter and its unplayable.
    I also cannot leave this game as its stuck on leave game. I wouldn have to alt F4 and come back in the game. Many itimes i get this issue even without alt tabbing.
    I reinstalled the game, tried playing through VPN, have no AV or any other software and I am clueless on how to get this resolved.

    Thank you for any tip that will lead me and everyone else to a solution.

    Thank you both for the additional info!

    Unfortunately I don't have the IP address of any of the servers to test the connection directly to them. Have you both checked to make sure the recommended ports for Apex Legends are open on your network? You can find more details about the specific ports over at the EA Help website. I'd recommend giving that a shot if you haven't already. 

    Let me know if you see any improvement after the ports have been opened. Thanks again!

    I have already forwarded those ports but it didn't solve the issue for me.
