Can you give us a bit more info on what's happening? Is it not giving you the option to enable the overlay, or is it just still giving you that same error even though you enabled the option?

Hey, I got the same problem, even though I have steam overlay on, it still  persists to give me the same error code when I try to register

Here is the error code. Ive tried checking the box, it was already checked, tried validating still did not work. 

@Tristen1195 Hi, if you try a Clean Boot and only start the game and Steam, with the overlay toggled on, does that make any difference?

I suspect there's some conflict with some other overlay software, and testing with the Clean Boot can check for this.

I installed Apex. Steam overlay is on, I checked the file intergrity, but it does not let me login with my ea account or anything. the error that I should have my steam overlay active remains whatever I do. Please help.

Did you have a chance to try starting up your PC in a Clean Boot like EA_David suggested in his most recent reply? Are you still getting this same error message after that as well?

You're still getting the same error message regarding the Steam overlay? You don't have any other overlays running at the same time?

I am having the same problem at the moment. No third party overlays, i have unlinked and linked steam account, Steam Overlay boxes are checked, verified game files, and nothing. Just started getting this problem after I enabled 2FA and changed my password last night after I found out my account was compromised. Game works fine from launching on Origin, but I would like to play it on Steam instead.

What happens if you set up a Clean Boot on your PC before you try launching Apex Legends? Are you still running into the same error?

I fixed it by launching the game as Admin. But I would like to speak to someone as my steam client account has been falsely banned due to a hacker cheating using my account.

I'm afraid that account bans aren't something we would be able to help with here on Answers HQ. The Terms of Service team would need to review your account to see if the ban could be lifted.

I have been using a second steam account to get around this issue, but your fix just worked for me, so now I can use both of my Apex Accounts (I have two gaming computers so friend can join) on Steam once again kudos to you 🙂
