Re: Apex shuts down my ps4, it says overheated then playstation shuts off.

Hey, @Kremlocke1

Posts like this are always concerning. We don't want to see consoles suffer hardware issues from our games.

I need to ask you some questions here to see what we can do.

  1. What version of the PS4 do you have?
  2. Do you use an external hard drive?
  3. Do you have any other devices plugged into your PS4?
  4. How much space is free on our HD?
  5. Have you tried re-installing the game or attempted a factory reset of the console?
  6. Is your PS4 in a cubby or is it in the open where enough air can circulate around it?
  7. Do you have the power plugged straight into the wall or into a surge protector? If it's a surge protector, how old is it?

    1. Ps4 Pro/ star wars edition.

    2. I do not use an external hard drive.

    3. There are no devices plugged into the ps4.

    4. There is 400 GB unused.

    5. Yes ive reinstalled the game.

    6. My ps4 is in the open.

    7. The power is plugged into an extension cord.

It shuts the ps4 down 75% of the times i try to play apex. When the game works a blue screen still pops up warning of overheating and i push x to exit the warning blue screen, then it finishes loading and i can play.

So the blue screen pops up in the menu where i press triangle to search for a game... while on that screen the fans starts spinning loudly and the blue s reen od overheating pops up... some times it allows me to press x to exit, most of the time it shuts the system off.

The ps4 isnt hot when it shuts down saying overheated.

Yes it shuts down even when plugged directly into the wall. I checked. Could i send you a short video showing it cut off. Is sending you a video on here even possible?

Have you tried playing the game with it plugged into a different outlet in the house to rule out the possibility of it being electrical related? You can upload a video on here if you have enough XP. If not, a link to a YouTube video is acceptable.

    @Kremlocke1 Thanks.

Have you tried plugging the console into a different wall outlet without the extension cord?

Is the console actually hot when you play it? Do you have the PS4 on the side or upright?

The ps4 is upright. Apex is the first thing id try to play after powering on the ps4 and it still flashes to hot. Not all the time though.

@EA_Blueberry Apex is the first thing id try to play after powering on the ps4 and it still flashes to hot. So the answer is no it doesnt take the system actually being warm. Are you Ea Blueberry just asking questions to stall? I ve done the things youve asked and answered all your previous questions. What are you going to do about this issue? Can you do anything?

At this stage we can really only do technical troubleshooting from our end with the console. I've seen cases in the past for Star Wars Battlefront where players experienced similar crashes and it was due to the console being too hot. The older Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles are being pushed to the max with the latest games that came out. Over time, these fans that help cool down the console's chipset can collect dust or wear down. I fear that could be a situation you're experiencing right now as we aren't seeing others raise this issue on our forums to widespread levels.

Have you reached out to PlayStation Support to see if they have any known solutions from their end for these console errors?

I'm not OP, but I have this exact same issue. Its 100% Apex, no other game causes my system to sound or feel like this does. This has been a 2 season issue. It's alarming reading this post and pinning it on an outlet change.. its hot to to the touch when it crashes, and if it doesn't crash my ps4 pro sounds like a helicopter ready to take off. Its especially worse at character screen and main menu upon boot.

I assume this issue won't ever be fixed. If I didn't spenk 5g on heirlooms id just uninstall.

Currently I'm playing this game from season 1 and this problem has not appeared, only problems with dns But I was surprised by this problem in this season 14, my ps4 pro sounds like a helicopter ready to take off. Its especially worse at character screen and main menu upon boot. I am not ready for me to lose my device. ps4 pro The issue is very simple. Uninstall the game and it solved my problem

I've done everything you've done too brother, I even stepped it up a notch and took apart the whole PS4 dusted off every piece, then put it back together cuz I really thought it was my PlayStation... But nope! I deleted the game reinstalled it and deleted it and reinstalled it again, then I actually had it working for a while... like a whole night I'd say....two days ago.... Then my controller does this weird thing where it stops or I mean it  disconnects from my PlayStation and then I try to reconnect it and it won't hook up or link up whatever, it's hella f****** stupid I know that, but yeah like I said the game is working decent for a whole night and then that happened and then I actually had to end up doing a factory reset again just to get it to go back to the PlayStation screen where it starts up correctly.... So basically every time I even get kind of close to playing for a minute or two I actually have to factory reset my whole PS4 literally erase everything reinstall the game which takes a while like a long time and then attempt to play it and if it doesn't play I'm pretty much f***** again and not to try it again that's the process I've been doing for the past week, somebody please sneak up on me and off me....
