"So I rang the EA help line and they told me it was a one-off problem and then told me they had technical problems and could not help me !!!!!!!!"
Wow...Pretty messed up, definitely not a one-off problem. It's a serious problem. I guess they've fixed it for enough people that the few hundred/thousand/ 10s of thousands of people that are left aren't worth fixing it for? Truth is, they'll make money off the game whether they fix it for those people (us) or not, and that's why it's no hurry. We know they're making bank off this game daily, so why mess with a good thing. It would be like putting super-soft toilet paper in a public bathroom for the few people that hate the regular toilet paper: simply not gonna happen.
For now I'm back to playing COD, which I actually don't like as much as Apex Legends. Sad state, but we gotta live in it.
I agree.
Last night one match audio worked. The people on the game were like, "someone is talking!!" I explained the issue and they said, "AH HA! WE see that icon all the time, but no audio."
Come on EA. Whats the deal!?!?Been playing since day one and have used pinging well, but I’m definitely get the feeling I’m missing out in something my not being able to listen in on the team chatter.
A couple days ago I was playing and got absolutely owned by a squad who did a coordinated attack on us while we were in a building. There’s no way you could hope to use pings to achieve that level of coordination. How are you supposed to compete against that without team chat working?
Has your problem been solved? I have the same problem.
Here is what seems to be the issue. If you and your teammates are not in a party then i couldn't hear my teammates. If any of your team-mates are in a party then i could hear them talking. If you are in a party or your other squad mates are in a party you can generally use the mic and it all works fine... EA I hope this is enough to solve your problem... the testing has been bit crude and based off the fact the matches i had people with new each other if i could hear them which generally means there in a party.
You obviously aren't having the same problem we are. I have played dozens of games where I can see the other people's mic icon blinking like they are talking, but I can't hear them at all. Since I can't hear them, there's no way to tell if they can hear me because they can't confirm it to me. Even with Voice-To-Text turned on, people don't respond to what I'm saying, which means they can't hear me. I've tried every combination of audio settings and have reset all settings back to default also. No luck. Again, I can switch to COD and everything works perfect.
There is no way that in the dozens of games I've played, every single time my other 2 team mates were in a party. There are plenty of people that go on there solo looking to find a team that aren't in a party. The odds of playing 50 games where your team mates are always in a party is extremely slim.
That leaves one possibility: There is something wrong with the game that needs to be fixed. What you are saying about being in a party is true, but the game still has a problem where solo players can't hear/talk to other solo players.
That is the point i am trying to bring up to ea. If all players were playing solo i could not hear my squamates talking despite being the mic icon go on/off at all but if they were in a party together I could hear my other squamates

Is your NAT type OPEN? You can find it under your Xbox One Network Settings. If it's not on OPEN there is a chance you might have trouble hearing others. There is a chart on this in the link below.
NAT Type Xbox Onehttps://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/networking/nat-error-solution
This doesn't mean we are not investigating these type of reports, however. So far though we haven't been able to confirm an issue surrounding this. I was playing with my buddies the other night on Xbox One and we were all in a party, but I couldn't hear them. I didn't realize it, but I switched to game chat by accident (double-tap the Xbox button on your controller and you'll see the option to switch between party and game chat near the bottom of the screen).
Could that be a possibility for you? - Its not the case. I was in a match, seeing voice alerts, no audio coming through. Picked Convert spoken word to text, nothing. Next match, I can hear people. We all talk its great, they say they experience inconsistency as well! Next match, see icons, no name.
This is an issue with the game, not the console. I have don't every reset possible, including game re-install, and no fix has worked 100%. - EA_Blueberry6 years ago

Are you experiencing this on an OPEN NAT? You can find it under your Xbox Network Settings.
