@W4RD0G71 the nerf to the stealth helicopters is a direct result of the overpowered toolkit it has. It has a very strong offensive, very strong defense with flares and stealth.
If you could take two rockets, what would be the benefit of using the attack helicopter without stealth?
I have to admit, maybe some nerfs were too much, I haven't died much from it in the last weeks / month, but I would not touch the fact, that the stealth helicopter dies to one missile of Lis.
- @Captain_Tachi I'm not disputing the fact that it was way overpowered, but I think it could be more balanced than the current nerf. What I suggested was somewhere in between, 1 rocket doing 75% or even 85% damage, giving the pilot an opportunity to stealth up to avoid more rockets. Lets face it, you're still going to be visible to the enemy chopper / plane / mobile AA, who will attempt to use their HMG's against you stealth or not.
One shot kill just seems to be too much. I liked the idea from @S3SSioN_SoL came up with; if you're in stealth and get hit by a rocket, it's goodnight, otherwise it's 2 rockets; even a half way measure of one rocket and some HMG fire. You're going to be a smoking fireball, so still very much going to be a target.
I have to agree, it was not the vehicle for Breakthrough, and I play a lot of Breakthrough.
In Conquest, I can still get a reasonable amount of flight time, provided I unstealth to attack, and stealth up again afterwards. But I find even the HE bombs arent as powerful - dropping them on a squad used to wipe the squad; now you're lucky to kill 1 or 2.
I find I just play aerial less and less. Through all the Battlefield games I loved flying, and the dogfights, but now there's more danger from the ground than other aerial vehicles, between the Wildcat, Infantry AA, the AA add-ons to other vehicles. Even the standard anti-tank round with a soflam. And then adding Lis to the mix. It just saps all the fun out of it. For me anyway. - ATFGunr3 years agoLegend
I’ll assume you don’t know me or have read other posts I’ve made. I’m pro-vehicle, combined arms is what makes BF great. So you can take your assumptions and put them in stealth choppie right? Ok, now that’s done, maybe we can have a conversation? Even you admit the stealth has been overpowered. I’m sure we can agree so is the Hind, and less so the Condor. The rest of the vehicles are anemic and have been needed to death. If 1 player is happy flying and 64 on the other team are sad, that’s a game breaking issue. We’re not here to be fodder for a hot stick pilot. If you only love flying, maybe Air Combat or a flying game are better choices? Combined arms must have balance, and to date we’ve had none. I’ve made numerous suggestions in many posts about balance, hell just make it so it could be locked on by a soflam (laser guided, stealth makes no diff) to other choices. I’m not going to lose sleep if for a few weeks it’s crappy, as it’s been amazing for months and I could use a break. I like flying, Hind is at T2, stealth is close to T2. I also like LMGs and running and gunning. I tend to try and see it from both sides. My hard comment to the OP was as much as you were complaining about an OP piece of kit and that I can’t feel bad for you. A reasoned post would get an equally reasoned response. I’m answering on my phone so I’ll check content later. Good chatting with ya.

@ATFGunrSure we'll take all the vehicles out of it, and make it more like CoD. In fact why don't we go the whole hog and take guns out of it, in case someone doesn't like getting killed. BF Sims, I can imagine it now... - UP_Hawxxeye3 years agoLegend
It is called the STEALTH helicopter. It is meant to be played as an assassin!
What we had until the nerf happened was an "In you Your FaCe! Can't lock on me lalalalallalala!!!" helicopter
Now people finally have to think between picking the stealth heli and the attack heli
@W4RD0G71 I don't agree with you. Two rockets are too much, as it already has a string defense. I know, it is frustrating to get shot down by Lis, but you have good chances to evade the rockets as the helicopter has a high agility and Lis rocket has been nerfed in this regard (and that is ok).
The helicopter needs a disadvantage with these traits, otherwise, there why would anybody take other attack helicopters?
Buff the offense, but not the defense. You need a counter and Lis rocket used to be it I think.
If you need it, Infantry has no chance to counter you, as you can just go in stealth and bomb them all away at higher range. There has to be a danger to the pilot to die, the infantry has this fear too, when they see the helicopter.
I find it depends quite a lot on the map. Certain maps have a lot of cover to hide the heli behind, have seeking rockets fly into and block the extent of sky to the horizon that AA can shoot.
On most maps the stealth heli has good survivability despite the low hit points, but on other maps it will be torn to shreds if its not being used by a good pilot.
Renewal stands out as a map with little cover for helicopters (although they can get behind the large wall).
There isn't much that can be done in this instance.
I mainly go stealth heli if a helicopter is available, and that's just down to how easy it is to quickly get kills before you do get shot down.
@ATFGunrYou're quite right, I don't know you, nor have I taken the time to read your other posts. I'm sorry if I was sarcastic, but I read your reply amidst someone suggesting it's all my fault, and another suggesting it was a skill problem.
I agree the Stealth was way OP; so is the Hind, and in some respects so is the Condor. I would, personally like to see more than one main battle tank in a map - I know we can have the EMKV-TOR, as well as the M1A5 / T28, but personally I'd like to have choice of second tank, as I'd still pick the M1A5 or T28 over the EMKV.
I enjoy flying, but don't always get the opportunity, so am happily seated in whatever vehicle is available. I tend not to run and jump around in firefights, simply because when I do, I'm always the first casualty. Like I said in another reply, I'm not 19 nor are my reflexes; I was playing multiplayer PC games for about 5 years when the franchise started in 2002, and I've been a fan ever since. Let's just say I earn my name well, and get called Grandad by some.
I tend to play support roles better, and let the younger guns bounce around all over the place 🙂 I can hold my own against some pilots, but there's clearly talent out there that I just cant shake off my tail. It's an age thing, but I still enjoy it.
I totally agree, there has to be balance, and the game at the minute doesn't seem to have it. When you consider that on some maps in BF5, there were 4 aircraft-carrier aeroplane spawns, 4 LVC spawns, not to mention a couple of tanks, 2042 seems, as you said, anemic for heavier vehicles. I'd also like to see a return to other weapons left out of BF for a while, such as BF3's M224 mortar. Indirect fire is something that tanks now have, but infantry doesn't; in my opinion it should be the other way round. There's something satisfying about a squad working together with a recon spotting, and a mortar providing support to the assault classes.
So please don't think that I'm just some hardcore pilot who wants to change BF into IL2 Sturmovik. I just wanted to suggest maybe the nerf went a little too far, and perhaps they could consider edging it back a bit.- @W4RD0G71 i think buffing the stealth is a bad idea until they do something to make engineer worth playing
- @Ga-Knomboe_Boy Agreed, I use that tactic where I can, but as you point out, where do you hide in Renewal, unless you're close to the wall. Flying below radar level also helps, but there doesn't seem to be a guide to the pilot where that is, just to the person trying to lock on AA
- @Captain_Tachi If you read my response to someone else, I suggested something between 1 and 2 rockets. 1 rocket say doing 75% or 85% damage, unless you are stealthed at the time, when a one rocket kill seems fair.
@W4RD0G71 Would be still a no, because the stealth option would be still viable, after get hit. So the meta would be, to fly without stealth all the time, until hit by a rocket, then just go in stealth and run away. So, the result would be the same, you withstand two hits with a rocket.
So it is just a way for me, to bypass the fact, that the stealth helicopter has to be more fragile, than the attack helicopter.
- @Captain_Tachi We'll agree to disagree 🙂 Like I said before, you rarely get hit by a rocket, but there's not some sort of AA fire as well, whether thats Wildcat, Jet or other heli. The only exception is, of course, the infantry AA.
- ATFGunr3 years agoLegend@W4RD0G71 If it makes you feel any better, I can’t keep up with the young bucks either. My original comment was sarcastic and and based on a lot of other posts about the powerful helicopters finally being brought down a few pegs. I won’t apologize for that feeling but will apologize for being a sarcastic * 😉 Forums, sheesh lol.
@W4RD0G71 I can't say how strong the Wildcat is against stealth helicopters, maybe they are too strong, but that does not mean to buff the stealth helicopters, more to nerf the Wildcat.
But for Infantry, the stealth helicopter is strong enough, you need 2 rockets with the FX rocket and one with Lis and the recoilless. And I think this should keep it that way.
@Captain_TachiI agree. I think the stealth are in a good spot now.
The insane amount of AA options against helicopters is the issue. TOR, Liz, FXM-33, turret, miniguns, Condor/hind, Brawler, even the LATV and Boltes with their 30mm turrets, and, finally, wildcats CAMPING IN THEIR SPAWN and jets. They both shred the stealth/nightbird/attack helicopters.
Meanwhile vs jets... Nothing. Only other jets, inexperienced pilots, or if the pilot makes a mistake.Yes, you will launch this invisible helicopter to the moon. He was originally a stumbling block in the balance, he's just superfluous. I can say one thing, in capable hands it is quite lethal. In an arsenal with a large-caliber gun and AGM, they can well disassemble equipment and give a worthy rebuff to infantry. Against aviation, such a kit is inferior if you do not have a shooter. And shooters rarely sit down because of his stupid cannon. So the choice of each is his own for what purpose he enters the battle. There is no repair system, but there is stealth. Without repair systems, take an engineer and fix it. I don't see a problem with it being nerfed.
- @Captain_Tachi I've used the Wildcat extensively, and it can do serious damage to a tank, never mind a heli, ever since it's had the ability to arm AT missiles instead of AA ones. The main cannon can also be changed from the standard 30mm AA cannons to 40mm and 50mm rounds, not to mention weapon stations having the option of an HMG, 40mm Grenade Launcher, Minigun or Barrage Missile, and the weapon pods having the choice of Canister Weapon, Kinetic Grenade, Rocket, 60mm Flak, 40mm Volley or 60mm Mortar. It's an absolute beast in the wrong hands.
Perhaps that is more what should be focused on, because it's to this monster that I die most. - @A-RAF2019 I most defintely agree with that assessment. When flying jets I catch the odd dumb fire missile or hmg's from choppers, but it's the enemy jets that keep me busy. On the other hand flying choppers has become a quick way of dying, especially in the Apache, which is less nimble than the Nightbird, and moreso than the Stealth.
Especially when no-one seems to notice the WILDCAT CAMPING ON THE EDGE OF YOUR SPAWN that takes you out within seconds.... I can cope with wildcats camping their own base spawn, but not my own...
