Generally this is a skill based tactical game, so you're not supposed to get help like that.
There are things you can do to improve your odds, like moving slower, pausing at corners, following your teammates etc. If you can get the jump on them(netcode issues aside), you can increase your chances.Until they destroyed Portal, you could play against bots only and work on your skills. You could try the Casual Breakthrough, but it often has hardcorers in there farming the less skilled players trying to chill out a bit.
Unfortunately I don't think they'll ever have skill based matchmaking, so all lesser skilled players are just relegated to fodder for the top 5-10 players on both teams(the said they have team based matchmaking, though it's very poor).

I understand that. But why would a console player get help..and a bad mouse player not?
Skill based match making is interesting also. People with aimassist will have higher skill probably. But do they have skill..or is it the aimassist causing it. Artificial help raises a lot of questions. ( and money)
I think personally...game studios should spend a lot of time adjusting aimassist to a level that is average of all the players playing the game. That must be doable with all the data they gather.
On bigger maps..i could do well. I could move slowly around. I try in the small maps..but there is always some one snapping on to you.

My understanding is mouse and keyboard is much easier to aim with than controller. So it's not so much a skill based issue, it's a hardware issue. So aim assist is supposed to make up for the hardware gap, not skill gap.
However they seem to have over-tuned the aim assist. - BrutalSBK77774 months agoNew Vanguard
Why you even playing FPS games if you are bad at it and unwilling to change?
and ppls like you do resort to "aim assist" it's called aimbot and they get banned for it.

I was playing about an hour ago and I no longer see the Casual Breakthrough mode.

Aim assist is most useful in close-range fights where targets move quickly, but when sniping into a group of moving enemies it can and will work against you most of the time. It may cause your aim to snap between targets or move unpredictably, making precise shots more difficult. PC players using mouse and keyboard don’t need aim assist because the mouse already offers direct, high-precision control. Aim assist isn’t a pure advantage it’s a balancing tool meant to offset the controller’s physical limitations.
If you find yourself over-aiming, it usually means your mouse sensitivity or DPI is set too high for you...

I will try to go through the settings. Make a list that will work. A shame there are so many sensitive settings..lol

If aiming is done for you, you can focus on other things. Like jumping and ducking while being shot.
I see that a lot. It is impressive that you can out duck shots at 2 meters...but..it can be done in game..lol

You will get better at M&K the more you play with M&K.
When I transitioned from console to PC and from controller to M&K I absolutely sucked **bleep** at aiming. I would frequently have to look down and find the key I was looking for and would fat finger numerous keys at once which would often times lead to deaths in super competitive games and such.
One game that really helped me get good at M&K fast was Escape from Tarkov... EFT uses basically the entire keyboard so... It helped me get really good at using a keyboard. Making those big finger stretches. Rotating my hand and using my thumb to hit buttons on the other side of the keyboard and stuff like that. Without looking down.
Also got me really good at the mouse cause in Tarkov headshots with good ammo is the only way to get consistent kills. You get **bleep** on if you don't learn to pop them heads fast as you possibly can. I think alot of my skill on M&K came from playing Tarkov for YEARS... Now when I hop on games like BF and R6 I feel like a duck in water with the controls as they are way less demanding.
