Who you spoke to doesn't seem very relevant. It's game mode that people seem to enjoy. It isn't the type of thing that people are going to play as their main game mode. It's just a nice little warm-up before people engage with the larger game modes like Conquest or Breakthrough. So there's no need to assume that this somehow encroaches upon the Battlefield identity.
This whole idea that Battlefield shouldn't be doing anything that could possibly appeal to CoD players, is typical Battlefield tribe mentality. Battlefield isn't that weak of a franchise that it'd lose its identity from having a casual game mode on the side.
