Hardcore Mode as a choice !!!! EA/Dice we demand the return !

Listen up, EA and DICE. I am writing this as a 45-year-old veteran of the Battlefield franchise, a player who has faithfully bought and played every single main title since the beginning. My loyalty? It hit a brick wall when you gutted the Hardcore Mode. And guess what? I'm not playing your latest installment—I'm back on COD, enjoying a game that respects my time and my preferred style of play.

Where is the Hardcore Community? We're Gone!

I am one of thousands of dedicated Battlefield players who ONLY play Hardcore. When you removed the official Hardcore server list and relegated it to a niche, limited-time, or Portal experience, you didn't just annoy us—you drove us away!

The simple reality is:

  • We want REALISM: We want reduced health, minimal HUD, and a heightened sense of danger.
  • We want FAIR ENGAGEMENTS: The current state of the game is an absolute JOKE!

The Core Game's Time-To-Kill (TTK) is Laughable!

It is absolutely RIDICULOUS that I have to dump half a magazine into an enemy at mid-close range just to secure a kill. The netcode and TTK are broken, frustrating, and infuriating!

You cannot ignore the hundreds of complaints and YouTube videos showing players landing 8, 10, or even more hits, only to be killed instantly by someone who turns around and manages a quick shot! This isn't fun, it's not rewarding, and it certainly isn't the Battlefield I grew up with. It puts people off the game!

We Demand a CHOICE - Give Us the Full Hardcore Menu!

I know about Portal. Portal is not enough. We are asking for a simple, core principle that should be standard in a massive title like this: PLAYER CHOICE!

It is NOT a monumental task for a developer of your caliber to implement a permanent, official Hardcore section that includes ALL game modes:

  • Team Deathmatch (TDM) Hardcore
  • Domination Hardcore
  • Rush Hardcore
  • Conquest Hardcore

You can have your massive, bullet-sponge, full-HUD matches for those who like them, and we can have ours! A choice is all we ask for!

The Massive Missed Opportunity

This is the best-feeling Battlefield game in years, yet I have NO JOY playing it because of the unfair, frustrating, and drawn-out gunfights.

Do you want to know how to instantly inject tens of thousands of new, dedicated players into your game? Offer a proper, permanent, full-service Hardcore mode! THOUSANDS of COD players would swap games in a heartbeat to enjoy a high-quality, large-scale, low-TTK shooter.

Until you respect this massive segment of your dedicated player base and give us the option to play the game we want to play, I'm doing what I've been doing:

I'm going back to COD, where I can enjoy the real feel of quick, decisive, and rewarding kills.

FIX THIS. GIVE US HARDCORE BACK. NOW.

There are many persistent hardcore servers in Server Browser.

Community > Server Browser > Filters > Name Hardcore, slots Any.

Then sort by player count and hit refresh.

Mate . I’m just checking - if you filter Hardcore - region any - max players any - free slots any - so max possible you have 4 positions - mainly conquest or rush . Usually built by rookies like you and me . They fully occupied and they hard to get in . I even created my own portal experience but if I get 2/3 players joining per session that’s max . It doesn’t work . I can guarantee you that they would gain hell of a lot more players especially older ones like myself.

  • there are persistent servers indeed, but in EU i can find like 3-4 that are full, and the rest are empty... after work i really don`t feel like waiting to populate a server. Most people also don`t join a 2-3 player server in the hope that it works out. EA should make official HC servers that show up in the server browser. The home tiles should be just shortcuts to joining said servers IMHO

  • need hardcore as playlist, simply have a slider on the god awful menu system, one for hardcore, one for normal mode.  how hard is that, everyone is happy....

What’s the point of making official servers if they could simply do a toggle switch on every game mode . You wanna play hardcore rules just switch it on it’s that simple. Servers are fine when people want to create their own rules and implement ideas that are more specific to their vision.

Exactly! It used to be an option. How stupid is restricting people from choosing what they want to.

Not having matchmaking between every game is a huge benefit of persistent official servers. You can stay in the same server and just move on to the next map in the rotation. It helps ensure you are not stuck on the same maps over and over again due to matchmaking.

Also, for modes like Breakthrough and Rush, it would ensure you get both attacking and defending opportunities on the maps; as they normally played a map, then switched sides and played it again before moving to the next map.

Additionally, barring the very first game you joined the server, you wouldn't backfill any matches; you'd always be at the start, and so would everyone else who stayed in the server. And honestly, this is the biggest thing I miss about persistent official servers. Right now, I get backfilled into matches constantly as I play (and I hate that, because inevitably a match needing back fill is very lopsided against the team you are joining); or I get brand new matches where most of each team is bots for most of the match. Persistent official servers would cut down on experiencing both of these problems.

Finally, we also used to be able to favorite the servers, which means you'd start running into the same people frequently, which helped build community. You got to know the players that frequented the same servers as you.
