I’m Done: Battlefield Vet Boycotts Until Official Hardcore Returns
Dear EA / DICE Team, Community Managers, and fellow Battlefield soldiers,
I’ve been with this franchise since the early days – Bad Company 2, BF3, BF4, the golden eras where the game felt alive, tactical, and brutally fair. I’ve stuck through the highs, the lows, and even the absolute disaster that was the 2042 launch. I’ve defended this series to friends, sunk thousands of hours into it, and kept coming back because Battlefield is supposed to be the tactical shooter with depth, scale, and modes that cater to different playstyles.
But I’ve officially lost all patience. As of right now, I’m boycotting Battlefield until meaningful changes happen – specifically, official, permanent Hardcore playlists that veterans have been begging for since day one.
Here’s the brutal reality:
- One single official Hardcore mode (or limited-time events like Circle of Hell that vanish after a few weeks) is an insult. It’s not enough. It’s lazy. Portal is flooded with inconsistent community servers – some are XP farms, others die in minutes, many lack proper rules, full XP, or stability. We’ve been told for years “use Portal,” but Portal is **bleep** for reliable, high-quality Hardcore play. It’s not a substitute for official support.
- The regular mode TTK is ridiculous and completely joyless for many of us. You get sprayed down in half a second from across the map, yet somehow survive absurd hits. Let’s get real: Imagine taking a sniper rifle body shot from 20 meters in real life. You’d be **bleep** dead on impact – no regen, no second chances, no magical armor. That’s the immersion and lethality we crave in Hardcore. The current core TTK feels like a cartoon compared to the raw, punishing feel of classic Battlefield Hardcore. It turns skilled positioning into a dice roll of who sees who first, with zero room for error or tactics.
- The mode pool is dominated by endless long slogfests like Conquest and Breakthrough. Where’s the fast-paced infantry action we love? No permanent Hardcore Team Deathmatch (TDM) for pure gunfights. No Hardcore Domination for objective chaos in close quarters. No Hardcore Rush for that classic push-and-defend intensity. And Conquest in Hardcore? Sure, when it’s actually available… but it’s not always, and it’s not enough.
Veterans aren’t asking for the moon. We just want three or four core Hardcore modes officially supported and always available in the playlist rotation:
- Hardcore TDM
- Hardcore Domination
- Hardcore Rush
- Hardcore Conquest
That’s it. Give us those, make them persistent, balance them properly (real low health, no/minimal HUD, friendly fire on, faster lethality), and most of us will shut up and play for years. We don’t need a dozen gimmick events – we need reliability.
Until then, I’m out. Switching back to Call of Duty Hardcore where they actually respect the mode and keep it front and center. It’s not perfect, but at least it delivers the quick, lethal, skill-based action without making me hunt through broken community tools.
EA/DICE: You’ve lost too many long-time fans already. Listen to the community that’s been screaming this for years. Bring back proper official Hardcore modes – permanent, varied, and accessible. Or watch more veterans walk away for good.
I’m not coming back until I see real change. Prove me wrong.
Respectfully (but seriously pissed off),
A disappointed Battlefield Veteran
