Not playing again until...

First of all, I'm annoyed that I have to do this because it's the first time since BF4 that I've put this many hours into a shooter. But after a few months, the situation has become frustrating, and I'm referring to:

  • SBMM (Skill-Based Matchmaking): It penalizes those who play well, those who play the game like Battlefield and not like Call of Duty. They boast about saying there's no SBMM and that matchmaking is based on "ping," but I often see players from other continents in my matches (on European servers) and on my team with over 100 ping regularly. It's very blatant for them to claim or assert that SBMM doesn't exist.

  • Netcoding: It's ridiculous. I can empty an entire Saiga 12 magazine at an enemy player from 5 meters away with buckshot ammo and not land a single shot. The best part is that they end up killing you in just 3 shots. Not to mention when you get killed a full second after you've already reached cover...

  • Excessively small maps: They're trying to attract the Call of Duty market without considering the regular player. The map boundaries are ridiculous; it's not enjoyable playing with jets.

  • Servers: Random maps, and I always end up repeating the "defender" role (I like playing Rush), since there's no proper rotation.

  • Game challenges: They're absurd, ridiculous tasks that barely relate to the class they represent, and they're poorly balanced (I've almost completed them all, so I'm not complaining just to complain).

  • Weapons: Poorly balanced. They don't even bother balancing them like they did in BF3.

Obviously, I'm not mentioning any of the bugs the game still has to this day because those things have practically become normal, but if I wanted to, I could make a huge list of them.

And I know I'm not the first one to complain about all this, and that's the problem—the veteran community isn't being heard. I remind you that the successful formula for this game was precisely going back to the old Battlefield formula.

That said, I remind you that on Steam, the player count has dropped below 100k, which means that by summer it could fall below 50k, despite having had historic highs of over 700k without Redsec. Any company that doesn't listen to its community is doomed to fail.

  • i have to agree; current team has done garbage work.

I have difficulties understanding, how good start turned out to be horrible gaming at the end of the day.

They have created good looking FPS -game under BF franchise, which has one problem; gunplay is broken.  And there is no communication. It looks like this whole project is handled by unexperienced high schoolers.

Most of the people are gonna quit playing soon. I wish i could claim my money back.

I will not put no money ever to any EA product.

  • The honeymoon phase is over, they need to fix this piece of crap game ASAP, there are so many bugs it's unbelievable.

Let's be brutally honest. The game's creators don't care whether we play it or not – we bought their game, they made money, mission accomplished.

Judging by the current game's technical state, its content, and their slow pace of work, they'll be fixing this title (if at all) for the next Battlefield.

Although their modern approach is understandable, they quickly withdraw support for the game, citing low player interest – because it's always our fault that they release a game-like mess and then try to escape it as quickly as possible.

Then we hear that they're starting work on the next game in the series, that they've learned from the last failure, etc. – the same thing they say about every game – and the circus begins all over again.

    On the matchmaking issue.

I can argue that there is no SBMM. This can easily be fixed if they stopped ignoring everyones pleas for a dedicated server browser with player or EA hosted servers.

Netcode and hit reg continue to be a massive irritation and they seem to be working on a fix but last we have heard on this topic was about a month ago so hopefully the fix draws near.

Their biggest issue comes from the fact that the devs think they know whats best for the community when its evident that they have no clue or vision of how this game is going to shape up. The road we are on now leads to a dead game and no significant investment of resources into the development of the game.

  • 1.  Rather than SBMM or even lagmatching, I think it just plucks from a pile and says "good luck."  In fact, even after a clear and obvious stomp with enemies getting 5/1 KDR at minimum, the game will match me with those same people again on the enemy team.  Wouldn't you know it, they stomp again.  They need an intelligent MM.  Use several metrics with skill being the focus on matchmaking.

    2. The servers feel like a grease fire on top of a tire fire on top of a coal seam fire.  I'd say about half my hits even register, and meanwhile the consolebots aren't even firing when I die.  You can see this same thing with people who have high ping, you can't hit them and they seem to be playing from 2-3 seconds from the future.

    3.  The maps aren't really that bad on the size of them, but they are so poorly designed in terms of cover and flow that half the map won't even be touched and everyone will focus on the "best" locations.  Libation peak has an entire almost untouched mountainside that is technically in the playable area.  Firestorm also has a giant plains area that is occasionally touched by a tank driving through, but is such a kill zone because there's no good cover or flow... It's just bad design.

    4. Hulu Netflix zoomer design.

    5. The challenges getting tied to game modes really suck the most for me.  I'm never going to play TDM, redsuck, or any of those smaller scale gamemodes.  Yet I'm punished for not doing so.  I'm also annoyed at how they're broken.  I've got a ribbon for over 1k repair on vehicles in a match, then the challenge for advanced engi 3 says I repaired 10.  I pretty much gave up after that.  It's also the same for assists.  I'll be rolling in assists all game, then at the end it tells me "Oh good job, you got 20 out of the 50 needed."  Just broken.

    6. It's insanity that the SMG is the most accurate weapon in the game.  Yet the LMG which should be even more accurate will miss by 12 MOA at just 10 yards, scoped or not.  All of the weapons need to be made as accurate as the SMGs.  THEN, proper damage falloff should be added, with the 2 inch SMGs not dealing full damage at 100m because why EA, why?

I completely agree that they aren't listening.  They won't even add the option for turning off crossplay on PC which players have been telling them every single day that they want added.  At this rate the game will be effectively dead in 6 months with only the CoD whales keeping it "alive" by purchasing cookie monster skins.
