Console players do have options to turn off crossplay. Not being enough players on any particular platform is a problem, sure.
Yes, there should also be the option to just crossplay with other console makes. Devs have spoken on this and I believe it is planned (one even mistakenly thought it was 'in' and said so in a tweet).
There should be input-based options as well as platform-based options because the imbalance isn't just based on platform.
As a PC MnK player I will add: -
We DO NOT get any cross play options at all and we DO want them. We DO NOT want to play against console/controller players. It's clear insulting console bias that we have no option when console players do. Imbalance is not fun whichever way it goes.
Console players DO cheat. DICE has begun banning Cronos abusers, but there are many other makes of controller hack that are much more subtle and difficult to detect.
Console/controller cheats are much MORE common than PC cheaters. This has been reported many times. You can buy hacked controllers on Amazon, that's how easy and commonplace it is.
Console players ALL have 'cheats' as far as PC players are concerned. If we had anything like Aim Assist, Recoil Reduction, Zoom Snap, Slowdown, etc we would be banned right quick.
Console players can use keyboard and mouse AND have aim assist etc.
Aim assist etc do not 'even the field', they give an advantage in certain situations like sliding/jumping into CQC. Those that learn to abuse the various assists, even without a hacked controller, have a distinct and significant advantage.
Two wrongs do not make a right in this case, it makes it worse.
