Me and my friends have been having similar issues with queuing and ending up in bot lobbies in South Africa. Based on our testing and friends lists there are more than enough players online and playing in our region, but the servers seem to be splitting all the players between all the servers resulting in lobbies filled with less than a 1/4 of the way with players and the rest is bots. When me and my friend queue the same game mode while not being in a party, we end up in separate lobbies each having a bunch of bots.
Luckily this issue can easily be solved. Instead of having the game split players in an attempt to quickly fill all servers, just have the matchmaking fill a server before queuing players for the next server. The best solution is to add a normal original server browser from BF 3, BF 4 and so forth which shows the official servers (which should be made persistent instead of re-matchmaking after a match). Portal servers and the portal server browser are frankly terrible as this usually changes the game play experience and affected your progression in Bf 2042. Please bring back the OG server browser and server system.
