Or make rangefinder unlockable after completing some objective — like 100 longshot headshots, for example.

That doesn't solve the problem though. It just delays the problem.

Thing is where is the actual issue? You still need to post up sat still, the target has to be relatively still as well otherwise the zero is lost, and it doesnt calculate horizontal distance for moving targets.
It simply is just a quality of life thing that has its own downside of costing attachment points that take away from other potential build combinations.- ghostflux22 days agoNew Ace
When I'm sniping at long range, I generally pick a couple of different spots on the map where I can either expect snipers, or I can expect high traffic. The next step is to measure the distance using a ping or laser designator to those spots. I shoot a few shots at those locations to memorize how the bullet drop/my elevation corresponds to the mildots on my scope in combination with my weapon. From there I don't zero my weapon at all and I can accurately compensate and hit consistent headshots.
Give me a rangefinder in Battlefield 6 and no practice shots are needed. I don't need to memorize anything. I can set a range at the spot I've chosen and I don't even have to sit still. I can keep moving, shortly stopping only when I shoot, with my weapon zero'd in at the perfect range and I can pretty much keep quickscoping the enemies at similar ranges. The idea that you need to sit still is incorrect, the range is maintained, even when moving.
