Surprise: 2042 actually feels better

I jumped into 2042 today (hadn't tried it before) and I was surprised by how much it feels like an actual battlefield game. Of course, its corny, visually it looks pretty cartoonish or straight up bad and operators suck but... Big maps, vehicles actually have a role in the games, gunplay feels good, no laserbeam recoil, reasonable ttk gives u an oportunity to take cover before you die. Maps are balanced in terms of hot points and breathing room areas, there's actually a sense of team play when capturing or defending a flag, the UI and progression actually feels like battlefield with ribbons, etc.

I'm disappointed by DICE and EA. I don't understand how they kept some of the worst aspects from 2042 in BF6 and left behind the better parts of it. BF6 feels corny visually and they insist on bringing even worse skins each time, but we dont have big maps. air vehicles are unplayable for more than 7s in the air, every gun feels almost the same with no recoil whatsoever and people play solo running around the map like a CoD.

DICE and EA, either you wake up or this game will be dead within months with the upcoming game releases.

Took them a couple years to make it work properly, like it always does.

  • I would compare BF6 to what 2042 was within the same time after its release

Yes, agreed.  I came to like BF2042.  I miss the map sizes & flow, and vehicles, they were so much better than what we have now.  Vehicles seem like they were an after thought.

  • IMO all the previous battlefields are better than 2042 and Battlefield 6. Hardline was pretty bad but it was better than these 2.

Like someone else said. It usually takes 2 to 4 years for all battlefields to "git gud"...lol

Fair enough, BF6's release has been way better by miles, but then again, why start all over with some stuff instead of keeping what they did well with 2042 in the end? It feels like they have no continuity.
