I'm a "sniper", every mil genre game, every time. And yeah, I scout out points to post up and oversee my coalition, usually for counter sniping. I can't count the episodes that I've lined up shots on players and almost emptied mags, only to watch countless rounds phase directly through their bodies. But, thanks to the incredibly stupid "spotting" model, regardless of whether I'm running a suppressor or equipped with a good blending camo. In no time I have a red billboard over my player to advertise exactly where I'm posted at, then come the 5,347,000 rounds of ammo from the SMGs 150 yds away, that somehow wipe me out when I'm in cover behind a boulder or other hard cover. And, the range finder is a joke, this isn't a rifle hunting simulator. What's the fun in playing as a sniper when you don't have to earn your long range shots, with some off the cuff range compensation?!
Totally agree with everything you're saying. The game cateres to oblivious kids and almost every attachment, mechanic and map design forces a stationary and campy play style. You literally get punished for engaging enemies, capturing objectives and moving in general.
Exactly as you stated, as soon as you click mouse 1 you get beemed from multiple directions by enemies you can not see because they're stationary hiding in a corner or cupboard, impossible to push because there's only one way in and most often behind a deployable cover.
The BF1 style spotting is superior in every way compared to this model. Even though I think it was a bit excessive in BF1 it's still better. Because you actually have to see the enemy and push a button. It would be hard to implement in BF6 though because the blurry art style makes everything melt together.
This also renders almost every attachment that doesn't hide you from the mini map useless. The only ones worth using is suppressors and the flash hider. I can't even imagine the level of neglect involved to take a decision like that.
