Venting my feedback :)
Some of my thoughts i decided to throw into the abyss after playing week 1 for 24 hours, and for week 2 being disappointed after trying the new Brooklyn map with conquest and breakthrough.
Gameplay:
- Every map in the beta is so small, turning every game mode into mindless COD style TDM.
- Breakthrough feels very disappointing after bf1 and bf5. (No immersion or sense of scale for battle field)
- Carbines: M4A1 and AK, when equipped with proper attachments make every assault rifle and SMG (currently in game) redundant. (AK is effectively a laser weapon)
- Putting spawn/deploy beacon into assault class is kinda pointless and not going to fix anything if you keep open weapons for every class. (EA reason = "...being used by solo snipers to redeploy in hard-to-reach places.")
- STOP HIDING CLOSED WEAPON GAME MODES - calling it right now they going to claim based on beta people prefer open weapon system and not include proper if any servers for it...
- What was wrong with server browsers? - all the waiting and effort of matchmaking thrown away after match ends, no custom map rotations... - not as bad as 2042 where it literally kicks you but still.(mby portal saves this idk..)
- RPG - did not know it's a suppression weapon. /s
- Vehicle assisted controls (at least for heli) - what happened to people training, practicing, learning and becoming better at something and other players trough work and dedication?
- Lib peak - is **bleep** in every mode. Also color grading is **bleep**, after i saw a glimpse of good example of color grading in LevelCaps video.
Future concerns:
- Bots luckily have not made it in, yet. Hopefully that stays that way. - bots are boring, pointless target dummies or aimbot hackers. IMO they have no place in multiplayer shooter, they will only be used to farm xp which in turn, ruin any sense of achievement in unlocks and progression. Bots don't make mistakes, humans: get nervous, make miss clicks, forget to reload, have un predictable decisions. - that's what makes mp shooters interesting and "competitive".
- Mortars. Almost every bf has had them and trailer did show them in bf6 also. Considering the size of the maps and congregation of players in some spots, they will almost certainly make the game less fun overall and more explosion spammy.
- Kernel level anticheat - first it didn't really bother me and for bf still really doesn't, but after reading more into it. It is overall a bad trend we are moving towards in the gaming industry. Maybe its not so big deal when a big company with reputation, has kernel level access to your pc, but in the future when it is more normalized having any indie and AAA game with kernel level access is going to cause issues both in compatibility between anticheats (valorant and bf6 already) and malicious devs.
Bugs:
- Players seem to be very jittery, even when simply running.
- Spotting - less is better (bf1 and bf5 for example) should not be able to track and kill peole trough smokes and bushes. Hiding and being sneaky is not possible anymore.
- Player visibility in general seems to be blended in, or mby its the color grading on the maps idk. Does not look visually as clear.
- Mountain goats.
- Light and dark areas from indoor to outdoor, in new Brooklyn map looking into windows is pitch black, and only hope that there isn't some one staring at you.
- Sniper glint both intensity, size and visibility trough objects.
- Settings menu: Im not native Englando speaker, so mby its on me, but the settings pages on top of it being hard to navigate with it submenus and what not, is also sometimes very hard to understand what setting actually does. Devs should def include before and after pictures for graphic settings at least and little gifs for others. Changing UI elements is a journey of back and forth.
- Fullscreen - idk if its normal that mouse can leave the game to other monitor or what, in menu at least. Seems to me like its Borderless in disguise.
- CPU and GPU this is the first game I'm 99% util on both - mby not a bug.
You can love the new BF6 , but recognize the PTSD you might have from 2042 that makes it seem bf6 is in better state than it is and remember how good it can be.
- I was skeptical about new dragging system but it works and is actually useful - props to the devs
- Movement system from bf5 is improved, its smooth and fun.
- Shooting while bit too lasery is still fun.
- Gadgets seem to have actual effect on your guns. (Even toggling the laser mid game changes the hip fire and redicle indicates it)
- Destruction is back.
