The biggest issue with the Support class is that its powerful gadgets keep players tied to the backline.
Support has boxes that continuously supply ammunition and healing, and its default gadget is deployable cover. Since Battlefield 6’s maps have many narrow routes and split frontlines, deployable cover provides a huge advantage simply by being placed in a chokepoint.
RPGs may be a possible countermeasure, but cover that can survive three or four grenade launcher shots while allowing the user to fire accurately with a thermal sight is too strong. On top of that, each Support player can place two pieces of cover, and there is no class limit. Even a few Support players on one team can easily block multiple routes.
Missile interception systems and grenade interception systems create a similar problem. They make deployable gadgets such as mortars and cover much safer, while making it far too difficult to break through narrow chokepoints with explosives.
Mortars may be appealing because they allow players to project firepower safely from the rear, but I do not think that should be the core role of the Support class.
Ultimately, many Support gadgets follow the same pattern: place the gadget, then stay near it to get value. The stronger these gadgets are, the more players are encouraged to remain in one position instead of moving to the frontline or objectives. Smoke grenades create the same issue, since using them continuously requires waiting near a supply box to recharge them.
Battlefield is a game about constantly moving and taking territory. Defending important positions is necessary, but the game’s design should not keep players locked into static backline play. I hope the Support class is changed in a direction that encourages more active movement and frontline contribution.
