Notice anything... The Medic role always has a presence but never a place for long. If it does exist as a playable class the slot of the class it replaces ends up being merged with another.
It's clear to me with the amount of juggling involved that it's a tricky and rather difficult task to balance the four classes. As there's too many jobs involving teamwork for just four classes to manage without one class being being more powerful than the others and being forced into doing two of those jobs.
Four classes is only holding you back now, five or six classes gives you more creative freedom.
Many of the suggestions I've made on this thread and others, I have also passed on and spoken about in other places on the web. They are for the most part, well received.

Assault -> frontline breaching via grenade launchers, route creating via grappling hooks, ziplines and spawn control.
Medic -> medical supplies & revival, combat boosts and covering team mates via shelter gadgets like trophy system or barricade.
Support -> providing firesupport directly and indirectly, carrying ammo supplies for weapons, gadgets and vehicles. Only class which has access to machine guns.
Engineer -> fixing vehicles, gadgets, map assets, installations and Commander resources... , deploying AT and AP mines for defense, building fortifications. Only class which has access to shotguns.
Saboteur -> destroying vehicles, gadgets, map assets, installations and Commander resources... disrupting enemy intel and technology, carrying MANPATS or MANPADS and Satchel charges, C4, equipment suppression weaponry, radar signal jammers.
Recon -> scouting, reconnaissance, camouflage, target acquisition and disinformation warfare. Portable designator, spy drones, ghillie suit, decoy bait dummy, decoy signaling baiter, ground sensor, throwable sensor... Only class which has access to designated marksman rifles and bolt action rifles.
