Hey folks,
I’m still getting error 1:86001S on PC and I’m out of ideas. We literally went through every single step from the official guide here in this thread — router setup, UPnP, ports, static IP, firewall, EA App cache, DNS reset, everything.
Important: I played the Battlefield 6 beta on the exact same setup and it worked flawlessly. So it feels like something changed on the live build / backend.
Here’s what we’ve already tried (so nobody repeats the same suggestions again 😅):
- Restart router & PC
- Wired Ethernet connection
- No VPN / proxy
- Network set to Private
- UPnP enabled (EA tunnel actually shows up in router)
- Static IP reservation
- Port forwarding (80/443/9000 TCP + 53/9999 UDP)
and also tested with ports removed + UPnP only
- Router reboot after changes
- Windows Firewall: BF6 & EA allowed on Private + Public
- Ran EA App and BF6 as admin
- Cleared EA App cache + App Recovery
- Verified game files
- Disabled extra network adapters
- Flushed DNS / Winsock reset
And yeah — still getting 1:86001S.
Since beta worked fine on the same system & network, I’m guessing this might be a server/backend issue introduced post-launch rather than user-side config.

Hey everyone!
Thanks for all your traceroute results and additional reports. I've passed those on to the team.
It looks like most of the different 1:86001S error codes are network, ISP, or system related.
We've just published a troubleshooting guide that might possibly help with your issues as well. Please give that a shot and let us know how you get on! - SmileKnight4 months agoRising Vanguard
I'm just fed up, I'm tired.
I'm currently registering on Metacritic to leave my negative review.
I can't play the game I pre-ordered. This error keeps coming up.
I can only access the game via VPN, but I get packet loss.
And we were promised 100 level rewards in the battle pass, which I didn't get.

I have the same issue. Wrote a ticket to EA a month ago, still no answer.

The issue is still not fixed. The game’s price doesn’t match its technical state or the level of developer support. I recommend everyone experiencing this problem to avoid buying EA games in the future. This isn’t funny — it’s been a month already, and we still can’t play.

same issue, i got through and talked to one of the support guys and he informed me that they're aware of it but there's no fix for now (btw this was like a week ago)

Same issue. On PS5 I have the game downloaded and its working on the same Ethernet, but when I tried trough Epic Launcher or EA launcher I get this error. There seem to be some misconfig with Steam and EA that breaks the game for all of us. Guess Arc Raiders is the choice until they decide we exist.

Okay , so I downloaded REDSEC on the EA APP, when I launched it it says my account has been restricted for all online services???
I checked my EA account to see and I have no bans or anything. Like whats up with that??? maybe that's why we cant play bf6 because our accounts are restricted for no reason?? - TheLyulik4 months agoSeasoned Novice
Cool, but I do not buy game to play it with VPN 😊
I have already contacted my provider, and after a thorough diagnosis on their part, it was determined that the problem is on EA's side, and the company has not done anything about it for over a month
