Can't buy KIT for The Sims 4 EA error (ref. #54005)

I'll start by saying that I've already followed all the steps recommended in this post by EA_Solaire. A prepaid credit card is linked to my Paypal account, which I've always used for purchases in the EA app. However, since last Friday it has inexplicably stopped working and keeps giving me an error. I waited until today, which is Monday, to see if the situation would be resolved, but no luck.

I'd even opened a chat with EA Help, but all I got was automatic replies that didn't resolve the problem and then the case was closed with the words Fixed, which didn't happen.

I just want to be able to purchase your games, but if you don't allow it because there are technical problems on your end, it's just your loss. And before you ask, there are enough funds, a KIT is €4.99, and on the prepaid credit card there is €20.

    My bank has not contacted me back, but something has changed in the meantime. I tried to buy the two kits through EA's site while keeping the EA app open in the background. By doing so, I was finally able to buy them with my prepaid card.

    So my advice to other players is to make an attempt to purchase from the EA site.

    This error typically indicates a PayPal service error- have you tried using a different payment method instead?

    Yes, I tried both Paypal and my prepaid credit card. With the same credit card and the same Paypal I bought several packs in the past, I never had any problems. I will try to wait a little until next week... But I really don't know what's the problem here...

    Thanks for checking! Here on the forums we wouldn't have access to your billing information to see why this transaction is failing for you, but you can reach out to live support again and have them take a look with you.

    I contacted my bank, who will verify my prepaid credit card and why it is not working on the EA app, they said it will take a few days. I will let you know what they tell me in case it might be helpful to some other players.
