Thank You for your reply, it helps to know that I am not alone. I think that they have turned off the ability to Chat so I have no way to get any help any more. I just get an auto response that is not helpful with a comment 'if I am still having problems to reply! I'm in a never-ending loop!
- KingRayVeteran3 years agoRising Veteran@kaspence Even if you do get to tech support, they don't know anything and will blame everything except the app. I got to them, and trust me, it was a waste of time. You have to go through ea.com to get to tech support. Good luck with them. Maybe you'll get someone who knows what they're talking about. Ciao!
Thanks I’ll keep trying to get a tech person.
I tried using the link you provided and I thought for a minute it was going to work. Unfortunately it states it will only work for Windows 8 or above. I have windows 7. I'm not computer savvy enough to know how to get any further.

I can tell you this for certain @RebeccaMcShane EA said they will not support EA app towards the end of this year if you're on Windows 7. Other software companies are saying the same. I think they disabled it, or let it go, sooner than the end of the year. That's why it would never work, and nobody said directly that they wouldn't solve anything if it stepped on Windows 7. Time to upgrade to Windows 10 and good luck with that too. My computer drags with this game because of the upgrade, but it's older and big-tech doesn't care ... they want us to buy newer computers with faster motherboards, video cards, etc. Capitalism at its finest (or worst). I fulfill all the requirements, but barely ... even with 32GB of ram.
I know this is an old thread, but considering it's one of the first results that shows up in a google search I thought I would share how I got this to work for me. Hopefully it'll help someone else out there that's having this frustrating issue. In my case, the error code I was receiving was INST-14-1618
The solution (for me) was rather simple. Instead of uninstalling Visual C++ packages like others have suggested elsewhere, all you need to do is
-Open Task Manager
- Look for "Windows Installer"
- Right click it and select "End Task"
- Find your EAInstaller download, and make sure to right click and select "Run as Administrator"
Immediately worked for me. I hope that if anyone else has this issue and finds this thread, this will help them resolve the issue like it did for me.- baddiekat2 years agoRising Rookie

Im sure this is a dumb question but I have been playing sims on my laptop and I just got a desktop, so im trying to swap everything over. My question is : I have EA app downloaded onto the desktop and sims, HOWEVER when I am trying to download all my add-ons it just pops error "something went wrong". I have tried to repair the game, uninstall and reinstall. I have cleared the cache, So im not sure what else to do. Im stuck. Help your fellow simmer out please.
Thank you in advance,
