@xEmma13x  Is the Sims 4 data actually gone, or does the EA App simply not recognize it?  Please check the next time this happens.  Unless you changed the default install location, the game's program files are probably in one of these places:

    C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Orign Games\The Sims 4

If the Sims 4 folder is present, open the Game folder inside (if it exists), and the Bin folder inside that, and let me know whether you see TS4_x64.  Please also let me know what antivirus you use, if any.

    Hi @justthatweirdo,

Is your game trying to update every time you launch the EA app and try to play? Let's clear the cache for the app following the steps here and run a repair on The Sims 4. To run a repair, from your game library, click The Sims 4 game tile and select the 3 dots and the upper right corner, and you'll see the repair option there.

If you're till being prompted for an update each time you open the app, please let me know.

  • Hi, y'all,

I've been having this problem for about a week now, but whenever I go into the app to try and play Sims 4, it says I have the most recent update, but then in the library, it tells me to download the game.

I have gotten it to let me play when I have no connection to the internet, but the app won't even launch properly when I'm not connected to the internet.

I sent a help message, but no one has gotten back yet and I really want to play my games.

it worries me to uninstall everything and redownload it because I don't want to mess up any of my save files. I also have almost every pack, so I know it'll take forever.

(cm edit - moved to sims board)

@WarblingLion0  What antivirus do you use?

Where is your game installed?  If you're not sure, search for TS4_x64 , select it, click "Open file location," right-click the file, select Properties > General, and post the full Location.  You can see most of the file path in the address bar, but this ensures you're not missing any folders.

    Product: The EA app
    Platform:PC
Error Report ID (learn how to create an Error Report ID in the sticky post) there is no error ID
Which client functionality are you experiencing this bug with? Other (Please Describe)
Please describe The EA app is always open on my desktop. I play Sims 4 every day. The first time every day I am ready to play, the EA app requires me to download the Sims 4 game and all of my purchased content.
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) Every morning beginning around the end of April 2023.
Summarize your bug Am required to download my game and purchased add-ons every day.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I have no idea how to find this bug. There is no error or error message.
What happens when the bug occurs? I select download, EA app downloads my game, I guess, and then I can play the game.
What do you expect to see? If I have downloaded and updated my purchased content, I expect to be able to play the game (Sims 4) without downloading anything.

I own nearly all of the Sims 4 content and my game is up to date. I am required to download my content daily in order to play the game.

@puzzlezaddict Hi. Sorry it's taken me a while to reply. I've been away and I keep putting off playing the sims because of this problem. I've just opened the EA app and again am now having to wait for all my games to redownload. So far when I open them my game saves are all there again. What do I need to do? Will repairing even help? If I need to lose all my games to fix this I'm willing to. It'll be annoying but not as annoying as waiting 2 to 3 hours every time I want to play the sims.

I use AVG but only the free version.

@puzzlezaddict Sorry to add. I'm not very computer savvy but when I search my computer for TS4_x64 it doesn't come up with anything?

@xEmma13x  If there's no TS4_x64, that means Sims 4 isn't installed right now.  Please let the EA App install it again and then see whether you can play.

This happened to me last night for the 2nd time. I was SO frustrated I left it up and went to bed.

When I woke up this morning, all of a sudden it was there again and allowed me to hit play. I literally didn’t do anything with it this time. (Last time it was still actually on my computer so I uninstalled and reinstalled. Talk about annoying since I have so many mods and cc!)

It’s almost as though EA doesn’t recognize its installed for a while or something.
