Where is the 'Game' file for my The Sims 4?

Product: The EA app
Platform:PC
Error Report ID (learn how to create an Error Report ID in the sticky post) Can't play
Which client functionality are you experiencing this bug with? Other (Please Describe)
Please describe The Sims 4 not accessable
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) Late August 2023
Summarize your bug In the EA app, The Sims 4 is the only game in my library. When I search it in browse, it says ' in library '. But when I go to library, it says ' Games ⚽ ' but there is just a black square where the Sims 4 avatar should be. I can't click on it etc. However, whenever I hover over the Sims 4 shortcut on my homescreen, it says my game is stored in ' Program Files/EA Games/The Sims 4/Games/Bin. I can't find a 'Games' file to access the 'Bin' file. I must've accidentally deleted The Sims 4 data ☹️
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1. Tell me how to access the 'Game' and 'Bin' files. 2. Look in the library and see The Sims 4 not appearing.
What happens when the bug occurs? A yellow bar runs across the top of my screen saying ' There seems to be a problem. Hang tight while we try to resolve it. '
What do you expect to see? The Sims 4 in my library and being playable again.

Please help! The Sims 4 is my favourite game - I need to be able to play it!

Anyone who can help, please do!

  • @1105Cats  Try uninstalling the EA App with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine).  Download a fresh copy of the App installer.

  • Hi @1105Cats,  you are looking in right place - if the file isn't there than indeed must have been deleted.

Before you start - your saves should be fine, but just in case you may backup them (they should be in your documents folder).

I assume you own the game via EA App, not for example Steam or Epic (otherwise some steps will be different). First thing you can try is repair you game via EA App. In EA App library go that blank square you have instead of Sims 4 icon, chose the tree dots menu and repair game. This should restore missing files. You can also choose the uninstall option to completely remove the game and then install it anew.

If the three dots menu is not available to you then log out of the EA App (just to be safe) and go to Windows>Settings>Applications (or type application in search bar). Wait till the list loads and find Sims 4, click on it and chose uninstall. Now log in to EA App, you will need to install the game.

@Resztaczsu Thank you for trying to help! The three dots menu wasn't available for me ☹️ I logged out and uninstalled the game but it still 'appeared' in the EA app. My library still said 'Games⚽' and the black square was still there. I couldn't install it again because I searched up 'Sims 4' in browse and underneath the avatar it said 'In Library', when I clicked on it, my screen just went black before returning me to the EA home page. This has been happening since the issue first arose.
Do u have any other suggestions?
Do u know how to get the 'Games' file back?
    Thanks!

  • Sorry to hear it didn't help. Unfortunately I have no other ideas. Try puzzlezaddict suggestion.
