Locked out of EA Account due to dead email – Support refusing to help

I created an EA account with the sole purpose of linking it to my Epic Games and PlayStation accounts.

Recently, the mail server for my registered email address was taken completely offline due to political reasons, causing me to lose access to that inbox. Because multi-factor authentication (MFA) is enabled on my EA account, I am now completely locked out. I can no longer play my Epic Games titles because the system insists on sending a verification code to that dead email. Fortunately, my PlayStation link is still working for now, but I am worried.

I tried recovering my account through EA Support, but the process has been entirely useless. They ask security questions that are impossible for me to answer under these circumstances, and then simply state they cannot help. To make matters worse, the chat agent explicitly told me they were the "highest authority" making the decision, leaving me with no option to escalate.

It is incredibly frustrating that despite having over 1,000 games across my Epic and PlayStation libraries, I am forced to completely ignore EA games due to a rigid, unforgiving system. I am left with no way to fix this, and it feels completely unfair.

  • Hey demon-scorpionka,

Sorry to hear you're having some trouble getting back into the account due to that old email. Our support team must be able to verify they're speaking with the account owner before any changes can be made, which is the reason for the multiple pieces of information they request.

If they cannot verify enough information matches what was originally registered to the account, they won't be able to make changes as that would be a serious security issue to simply allow someone access to an account if we can't confirm they are the owner.

You're absolutely welcome to reach back out and resume a case to take another shot at the verification process, but there are no alternate paths that bypass that verification I'm afraid.

  • Hey EA_Mako,

I understand that security protocols are necessary to protect accounts. However, the current verification process is fundamentally broken for situations like this. It completely fails users who lose an email domain due to external circumstances beyond their control.

The system urgently needs to be updated with flexible, modern alternative verification methods. Since this EA account was created solely to link my platforms, EA should allow identity verification through the connected PlayStation or Epic Games accounts. I can easily prove my ownership on those platforms right now.

Alternatively, there should be a self-service option to force-unlink third-party platforms from the console side without needing to log into a dead EA email.

I do not actually need access to this EA account anymore. I am completely fine with abandoning it. The core issue is that my PlayStation and Epic Games accounts—which hold over 1,000 of my games—are now permanently held hostage by a dead link. Simply allowing us to break the link from the console side or via Epic/PSN support would solve this entire problem without compromising EA's internal account security.
