FC 27 Icons, Heroes and Language

Hello EA, i think my message speaks for all country when I say we want Romanian Language Commentary.

Also, as Heroes and Icons

I’m writing as a passionate fan of Ultimate Team and Romanian football to propose several legendary Romanian players who would be excellent additions to FC 26 as Icons and Heroes.

Romanian football has a rich history—especially the “Golden Generation” of the 1980s and 1990s—and these players deserve to be part of the game’s legacy content.

Proposed Icons

1. Cristian Chivu (DF)

  • Key clubs: Rapid București, Ajax, Roma, Inter
  • Career highlights:
    • Champions League winner with Inter (2010), starter in the final
    • Long, top-level career in Serie A and Eredivisie
    • One of Europe’s most respected centre-backs/left-backs in his era
  • Why Icon: Global recognition, sustained elite performance at top European clubs, huge demand from FUT community (especially Serie A fans).

2. Adrian Mutu (FW)

  • Key clubs: Rapid, Inter, Parma, Chelsea, Fiorentina, Juventus
  • Career highlights:
    • Romania’s all-time top scorer (joint with Hagi)
    • Impressive spells in Premier League, Serie A, and at major clubs
    • Technical, spectacular forward with flair and finishing
  • Why Icon: High global visibility, played for multiple top clubs, fits the “flashy Icon” archetype.

3. Gheorghe Popescu (DF)

  • Key clubs: Universitatea Craiova, PSV, Barcelona, Galatasaray
  • Career highlights:
    • Defender/captain at FC Barcelona
    • UEFA Cup winner with Galatasaray
    • Strong, intelligent central defender with leadership
  • Why Icon: Rare Romanian presence at Barça, consistent top-level career, perfect for a “cerebral” defensive Icon.

4. Helmut Duckadam (GK) – “The Hero of Seville”

  • Key club: Steaua București
  • Career highlights:
    • In the 1986 European Cup Final (Steaua vs Barcelona, 0–0), he saved all 4 penalties in the shootout
    • World record: first and only goalkeeper to save four consecutive penalties in a European Cup final (Guinness World Records)
    • Led Steaua to become the first Eastern European club to win the European Cup
  • Why Icon: Unique, one-of-a-kind moment in football history; a true global record. His story (career cut short at 27 due to a blood clot) adds a legendary, almost mythic dimension—exactly the kind of narrative Icons should have.

Proposed Heroes

5. Marius Lăcătuș (FW) – “The Beast”

  • Key club: Steaua București
  • Career highlights:
    • Key player in 1986 European Cup triumph
    • 1987 European Super Cup winner vs Dynamo Kyiv
    • Symbol of Steaua’s golden era and one of the most beloved Romanian forwards
  • Why Hero: Club legend with a massive emotional impact; perfect for a “Golden Generation / Club Legend” Hero.

6. Gavrilă “Gabi” Balint (FW/MF)

  • Key clubs: Steaua București, Real Burgos
  • Career highlights:
    • Scored in the 1986 European Cup Final penalty shootout
    • Important contributor in 1987 Super Cup
    • Standout at 1990 World Cup (goals vs Argentina and Cameroon)
    • Over 260 league games and ~70 goals for Steaua; long international career
  • Why Hero: Major figure in Romania’s most successful period, with memorable World Cup moments. He has original match-worn shirts displayed at the Football Museum Bucharest, proving his tangible legacy.

7. Dan Petrescu (DF)

  • Key clubs: Steaua, Sheffield Wednesday, Chelsea, Bradford
  • Career highlights:
    • Long, solid career in the Premier League
    • Key right-back in the Romanian national team during the 1990s
  • Why Hero: Adds diversity to the Hero pool as a reliable, tactical full-back from a top league.

8. Ilie Dumitrescu (MF/FW)

  • Key clubs: Steaua București, Real Oviedo
  • Career highlights:
    • Star performer at 1994 World Cup (goals vs Argentina and Sweden)
    • Technical attacking midfielder/forward, decisive in big matches
  • Why Hero: Perfect for “World Cup Moments” or “Golden Generation” Hero cards, with unforgettable tournament performances.

Why These Players Matter

Romania’s “Golden Generation” (1986–1994) produced:

  • The only Eastern European European Cup winner (Steaua 1986)
  • A World Cup quarter-finalist (1994)
  • Multiple players at top clubs (Barcelona, Inter, Chelsea, Juventus, etc.)

Adding these players would:

  • Enrich the Icons/Heroes pool with unique profiles
  • Celebrate an underrepresented football nation in FUT
  • Reward long-time fans and attract new ones from Eastern Europe
