🫶🏼 An open letter to everyone who truly loves football games.
FC26 definitively marks the end of trust in EA. Why release patches every month if it’s not to fix the REAL problems? A game can have imbalances in attack or defense, of course. But those imbalances are also part of a game’s identity. So why tease nothing but hot air every year, only to then apply 10,000 monthly changes with no clear vision? Focus developers solely on REAL BUGS that actually block the game. Absolute priority to real bugs, and to balance adjustments before release and then at mid-season.
And please, separate FUT from “SIMULATION”.
- ULTIMATE TEAM as free-to-play, with 10,000 balance updates, continuous content, events, cards, endless live-ops: no problem. That’s the pleasure fans of this type of experience are looking for. Fine.
- FOOTBALL CLUB, on the other hand, must be paid and above all designed as a true football game. A stable, balanced foundation, not dependent on constant patching.
A massive historical content offering for legendary clubs: iconic kits, legendary players, mythical stadiums, unapologetic fan service, total immersion specific to each club.
Why not even packs at €5–10, like Forza and its car packs—no one would complain if the core of the game is solid; fan service can go far.
But above all, a true football simulation:
- An ambitious Career mode, inspired by Football Manager, with a demanding difficulty that forces training, reading the game, and understanding real football.
Not assisted gameplay disguised as a simulation.
And finally: let players CREATE their experience. Their leagues, their teams, their stadiums, their squads. Easily editable transfers. Custom players, fully customizable.
How can you not also integrate the mythical legacy of old FIFAs, with Alex Hunter for example, and/or the spirit of PES and its Master League? Even without licenses, with generic players like Castolo, the fun was real.
All it required was an intelligent game structure and deep respect for players. EA would easily make its money. And above all, would do a better job promoting football, clubs, and players.
Instead of burning millions on bulls*** marketing campaigns: “We’re listening… look.”
Just do things right. JUST DOOOOO IT.
Even the menu presentation—you’ve abandoned it… There was a time when discovering the identity of the new game was part of the pleasure, the anticipation, the immersion. That time feels far away now.
