Off course they do. The game is completely illegal. That's why EA is keeping their distance from the community and that's why the game is so terribly bad. You can update all the animations, nerf all the overpowered moves and players, but with stuff like scripting and DDA it all doesn't matter. They found a way to manipulate every aspect of the game on a large scale. That's why the game will never be decent, let alone good or great. It's not meant to be that. It's meant as a money-grab.
Funny thing is some years ago EA announced they created a system that we now know as DDA. It was quite a proud statement, like they did something revolutionairy. Now fast forward a few years and people started to notice the manipulation. All of a sudden they had to release multiple statements that it wasn't in the games they released. They even released the results of the court case, which doesn't hold any weight. Like that's not something you can easily work around. You can look those statements up. Try not to laugh when you read them. No company will design such a tool, patent it and not use it. It's that simple.
So yes, everything about the game is based on getting people to spend money, from pack weight to SBC-setup to gameplay and rewards. Also, it's designed to make you feel frustrated. Emotion equals engagement and engagement is essential if you want people to keep playing that utter garbage of a game. DDA might be just in-game level shifting (just trainer slider manipulation), I'll bet that's not where it ends.
