Request to Improve Squad Battles and Add Offline Knockout Mode in FC 26

Dear EA SPORTS FC Development Team,

I hope this message finds you well.

As loyal fans of the Squad Battles mode in Ultimate Team, we are writing to express a growing concern among many offline players. In FC 24, players were able to enjoy up to 40 Squad Battles matches per week, allowing for extended engagement and meaningful progress. However, in FC 25, we noticed that this number has been reduced to only 20 matches per week.

This change has negatively affected our experience, as many of us complete all available matches within the first two days of the week, leaving the rest of the time without any way to earn points or rewards. This leads to boredom and disconnection from a mode that we genuinely love.

We respectfully request the following:

  • Restore or increase the number of Squad Battles matches per week.
  • Ideally, make the mode unlimited, rewarding players based on the number of matches they complete.
  • Allow players who invest more time and effort to receive better and more valuable rewards.

These changes would greatly enhance the experience for those of us who prefer offline gameplay against the AI. Many players choose Squad Battles as their main mode, and we feel that our needs are being overlooked in recent updates.

Please understand that this feedback comes from a place of genuine loyalty. I have already pre-ordered FC 26 and have been a dedicated fan of the franchise for years. We sincerely ask the development team not to disappoint the offline player community and to show us that our voices matter.

Lastly, we would also love to see the addition of a new knockout-style tournament mode (like a single-player “elimination bracket”) within Ultimate Team, fully offline and against AI opponents. This would add depth and variety and give players more to look forward to each week.

  • I agree with the OP! Please EA, PLEASE INCREASE THE GAMES! I find myself bored and also disconnected! I wonder if I should even get the game? Just feels like i can't take full advantage of enjoying the content you guys are creating and putting out with new objectives, players cards etc... and its a shame. Im not big in competitive online experience playing this game, I just dont enjoy it, I enjoyed the game far more! By a 100% margin, more, when I was able to play more squad battles games. Increase the total number of games please.

  • I like it being based on skill rather than time spent. It doesn’t make sense someone who is casual can only play a few games a week should be beat by a worse player who can play an unlimited number of games. 

    Since you can play past the 14 games you can still do all the objectives and can still just enjoy the game.

    RadioShaqs​ it's not a problem that the game is based on skill, the problem is that they have made squad battles the ONLY way that we can get rewards, and then decreased the number of matches just to allow players who already get rewards from all the other modes to be able to place higher than us because of "skill". 

    The other problem is that 1 disconnection through no fault of your own can derail your chances instantly, which is unfair. 

    Also, there is a misconception that offline players just have less skill than online players. That is not completely true across the board, and it also does not mean that the game should punish them and leave them with a boring and frustrating experience.

  • It won’t help people who dc only if they play more games then the better player. 

    Which is still the question why reward someone who can put in more time to play 500 games more than someone who is better but is casual and can only play 14?

    The better player who can only play a limited amount of games should be rewarded more or otherwise why would casuals play?

     

    Let’s say it’s unlimited and one player plays 100 games gets maxed points on max difficulty. The other player plays on beginner goes afk does chores works ect but plays 1000 games. Who should get the better rewards?

    RadioShaqs​ you are right about that, but I still don't think 12 matches is enough. And that's coming from someone who reached elite 1 with 2 disconnects and a referee driven loss. With having half length set to just 4 minutes, most casual players could play more than that. 

    I would say that if they aren't going to give us another game mode, then they should add post match rewards for every squad battles match, or maybe less often than that, every 3 wins, or every 5 matches. They should be small enough so as not to completely throw off the balance, but increase throughout the year and also be based on the difficulty you play on. 

    I respect the fact that online players get more rewards than us, and I am not looking to change that. But we aren't getting enough to establish the fact that we pay EA the same amount of money for the game. For example, there are too many players and evolutions that we haven't had access to this year.

    Less packs, fine.

    Less coin rewards, fine.

    Less sp, fine.

    Less campaign players, I understand it, but the number of exclusive players is just too high, and doesn't consider the fact that we are also football fans who have favorite players. The least they could do is give everyone a player pick from those items.

    And last but definitely not least, less evolutions is simply wrong. As I have previously said, in the games current state, evolutions are the only thing we have. 

    I just hope that they will read this and even if they don't make any other changes, which would be devastating, please allow everyone to have non-exclusive access to EVERY evolution. Just that alone will show that you care at least somewhat about us too. 

    Back to the beginning, your example is correct, but can you tell me what you think of these solutions to improve our experience?

  • I could see wanting to change the system. If you compare it to online it would be like asking for wl to no longer be based on skill. 

    When wl was 40 games bad players could get better rewards than a pro player just based on playing more games. It’s why they made it less games too. 

    So really online and offline is now very similar in the way rewards are based. Which is different than online getting better rewards than offline. 

    If you want to reward people not based on skill but time played I can see that too but just say that. Objectives reward people a lot on time rather than skill. Thats why people afk especially in rush to get evos or objectives done. While they started booting people for afk they still barely play. 

    But yeah if you want worse players who afk and play on beginner to get rewarded more add 40 squad battles 100 500 or unlimited.  

    14 games is two games a day. That is still a lot for a casual player.

    To me it’s pretty obvious that it’s based on skill and intended to have all players play the same amount of games. Not one player playing 50 and the other one player 1000 games. The points system doesn’t make sense with players playing different amount of games much like wl. 

    Now if you wanted to remove the points and base it on wins like rivals I could see that. First off base it on what difficulty you pick so if you pick world class you can only get say gold rewards. If you play on beginner you can only get bronze rewards. To get the best rewards you need to play only ultimate. 

    Then after that you can base it on wins like rivals. It doesn’t matter how many losses you take or dcs. Then you can have it be win a 100 games to unlock the reward and everyone gets the same reward based on wins and difficulty.  That way it would no longer be based on skill points but wins. 

    That way everyone has to get 100 wins and there is no downside of losing but you having to play more games much like rivals.

    RadioShaqs​ that's a great idea. It should always be based on number of wins rather than points, which can put you one yellow away from a certain tier. 

    Yes, maybe it could work like this: 

    • Bronze 3- participation award, complete 1 match 
    • Bronze 2- win at least 5 matches on at least amateur difficulty 
    • Bronze 1- win at least 10 matches on at least amateur difficulty 
    • Silver 3- win at least 15 matches on at least semi pro difficulty 
    • Silver 2- win at least 15 matches on at least professional difficulty 
    • Silver 1- win at least 20 matches on at least professional difficulty 
    • Gold 3- win at least 25 matches on at least professional difficulty 
    • Gold 2- win at least 20 matches on at least world class difficulty 
    • Gold 1- win at least 25 matches on at least world class difficulty 

     

    From here on up, only matches against teams drawn from medium and hard will be counted. 

    • Elite 3- win at least 25 matches on at least legendary difficulty 
    • Elite 2- win at least 30 matches on at least legendary difficulty 
    • Elite 1- win at least 30 matches on at least ultimate difficulty 
    • Top rank- win at least 50 matches on at least ultimate difficulty 

     

    What do you think, higher skill players will be rewarded and there will always be a set target? 

    By the way I must say that I appreciate you engaging in this conversation, because it is often overlooked, and we need solutions to improve this experience for everyone.

  • It would basically be like rivals. You have the ten divisions but instead of that it would just be based on the difficulty you choose. Then have it be 50 wins you get the upgraded rewards and 25 could be the basic rewards. 

    If that’s not enough games have it be 100 and 50 wins needed a week. 

    Then you could base the rewards on rivals but obviously less since it would be offline. 

    If you win 100 games on beginner you can get the same rewards as division 10. 

    I would have to look up each difficulty I don’t remember them  all but the next would would reward like d9 d8 ect  

    Then if you win 100 games on ultimate you can get rewards like division 5.

    RadioShaqs​ but it shouldn't be less for the only mode that we have access to, what harm does it do if they are the same? 

    If you can play rivals, then you get the reward twice, so why keep holding us down with rewards that don't respect that we are loyal customers and fans as well? 

    What I'm asking for is to give more to both the haves and the have nots if you will. But the majority view seems to be to forget the have nots because the haves want to always have more than us. They will anyway, so I don't see the problem. 

    Just look at the objectives that arrived today in 25. What do we get? Nothing. Just go back and look at the enormous amount of evolutions and players that were unavailable to us because of being multiplayer exclusive. Look at how many sbcs were quite literally impossible to complete with the rewards we are left with. 

    What are online players so afraid of that makes them want us to continue to have nothing but the crumbs?

    Are they thinking that we are just lying in wait, only playing offline until we have a strong squad? 

    I can assure you that is not what is happening, and if so, they could do the same, it is not wrong. 

    Are they afraid that we would come in and beat them?

    If that's the case, then stop calling us lower skilled to talk down on us when most of us are just less fortunate monetarily, and in terms of our connection capabilities. 

    I bet you I would beat 8 out of every 10 people who say that, and I have never asked for or supported them having less. 

    Sorry about the soliloquy, don't take anything I said personally. I just want the game to be fair for all, and one of us getting more should equal all of us getting more.
