Can't play Clubs: "Checking Account Status", "Choose a plan".

Despite purchasing and owning the game, EA FC 26, I cannot play it on my Xbox One S: 

Everytime I try to open up online-play modes, it shows a message stating "Checking account status".  Then, it tells me I need to choose a GamePass subscription in order to play.  If I decline, I'm sent back to the main screen and it prevents me from playing.

I have tried restarting console, logging out, and uninstalling/redownloading the game. Nothing has worked, unfortunately. 

Anyone experience this before and/or have a solution?

    Did you get this fixed. Just had to reset my son's console and now this comes up and he can't play online multiplayer. Just reverts back to main menu after controlling account status. It's on my home Xbox with a game pass ultimate subscription. Doing my head in!
