FC 26 Fail to Launch – EA Javelin AntiCheat Service Error 87 0xC0000005 Crash
Dear EA Support Team,
I am experiencing a persistent launch issue with EA games on my Windows 11 PC. Both EA SPORTS FC 26 (Steam version) and Battlefield 1 fail to launch properly. I have spent considerable time troubleshooting this issue, but none of the steps below have resolved it.
I would appreciate a technical investigation rather than another generic recommendation to reinstall the game or the EA app.
1. System specifications
- Operating system: Windows 11 Pro, version 26H2 (successfully installed on October 10, 2026)
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7900
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080, 16 GB VRAM
- RAM: 16 GB DDR5-6000
- Motherboard: ASUS B650-E WIFI
- FC 26 installed via Steam
The issue persisted after upgrading Windows to version 26H2.
2. FC 26 crash details
Windows Event Viewer consistently records an application error reported by EA Javelin AntiCheat:
- Game executable: fc26.exe
- Exception code: 0xC0000005 (Access Violation)
- Faulting module: dbdata.dll
- Fault offset: 0x1B7794
The fault offset has remained identical across repeated crashes, including after verifying the game files, replacing the DLL through Steam's verification process, repairing Windows system files, and upgrading to Windows 11 version 26H2.
The virtual exception address changes between launches, but the fault offset remains the same.
Steam's file verification reports that all files are valid.
3. EA AntiCheat service failure
The EA AntiCheat service is registered on the system and points to the following executable:
C:\Program Files\EA\AC\eaanticheat.gameservice.exe
The executable is version 1.0.15546623.0 and has a valid Electronic Arts digital signature.
However, starting the service manually using an elevated PowerShell window:
sc.exe start EAAntiCheatService
causes the service to enter START_PENDING and then stop shortly afterward.
The subsequent sc.exe queryex EAAntiCheatService output shows:
- State: STOPPED
- WIN32_EXIT_CODE: 87 (0x57)
- SERVICE_EXIT_CODE: 0 (0x0)
Windows Event Viewer has also recorded Service Control Manager Event ID 7023 with the German error message “Falscher Parameter” (“The parameter is incorrect”).
I also checked for the following driver file:
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\eaanticheat.sys
PowerShell returned False, meaning that the file is not present at that path.
I cannot determine whether this missing file is expected in the current version of Javelin AntiCheat, or whether it is related to the service failure. I would appreciate confirmation from your technical team.
4. Troubleshooting already performed
I have already tried the following:
- Verified the integrity of FC 26 through Steam. All files were reported as valid.
- Cleared the EA app cache.
- Repaired and reinstalled EA AntiCheat, including attempts using the game's AntiCheat installer.
- Reinstalled the EA app and performed cleanup of relevant EA app files and folders.
- Replaced dbdata.dll through Steam's file verification process. The same crash returned.
- Disabled the NVIDIA overlay and tested again.
- Temporarily disabled Windows Memory Integrity, restarted the PC, and tested again. This did not resolve the issue; Memory Integrity was subsequently re-enabled.
- Ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth successfully.
- Ran sfc /scannow. Windows found and repaired corrupted system files, but the crash persisted after restarting.
- Checked Microsoft Defender status. Real-time protection and antivirus protection were enabled and operating normally.
- Tested a clean boot using msconfig. EA displayed the warning “Die Hintergrunddienste wurden deaktiviert,” and the game did not reach the normal launch stage. I subsequently restored the services and restarted Windows.
- Removed Easy Anti-Cheat associated with another game and tested FC 26 again. This did not resolve the issue.
- Upgraded Windows 11 to version 26H2. Both FC 26 and Battlefield 1 still fail.
I have not found a reliable fix despite these attempts.
5. What I need from the technical team
Because the issue affects more than one EA game and the EA AntiCheat service exits with error 87, I would appreciate your help investigating the underlying cause.
Specifically, could you please:
- Explain why EAAntiCheatService terminates with error 87 during startup.
- Confirm whether eaanticheat.sys should exist at the checked path for the current Javelin AntiCheat version.
- Investigate whether this service failure is related to the repeated fc26.exe access violation in dbdata.dll at offset 0x1B7794.
- Check for known compatibility issues involving Windows 11 version 26H2, ASUS/AMD system components, or the current Javelin AntiCheat build.
- Provide a targeted diagnostic procedure or escalate this case to the relevant technical team.
I can provide screenshots, Event Viewer logs, command outputs, and any additional diagnostic files required.
Please review the details above before recommending steps I have already performed.
Thank you for your assistance.
Kind regards
