Graphics Settings Not Applying / Game Forces Presets (Even After Full Reset)

I’m experiencing the same issue others have reported where EA Sports FC 26 does not stick to applied custom graphics settings.

The game saves my settings correctly in fcsetup in my local app data file (and the menus also show them).
But when I load into a match (or sometimes after halftime), the engine forces everything to match the RenderingQuality preset (Low/Med/High/Ultra).
This means the game looks the same no matter what I pick, and performance often tanks because it resets to High/Ultra.

Steps I’ve Already Tried (none worked)
Full uninstall and reinstall of FC26.
Manual deletion of all leftover folders (AppData\Local, AppData\Roaming, Documents\EA Sports FC 26).
Cleared EA App cache.
Ran EA App and FC26 as administrator.
Disabled overlays (EA App, Xbox Game Bar, NVIDIA Overlay, Discord).
Tested both DX11 and DX12.
Manually edited fcsetup and locked it Read-only.
Tried different GRAPHICS PRESET values (0–4).
Uninstalled GeForce Experience to prevent auto-optimisation.
Fresh NVIDIA driver reinstall.
Tested on a brand-new Windows account.
Even did a full PC reset (completely clean Windows install) and reinstalled FC26 — the issue persists.

System Specs

Windows 11 Home
Intel Core i7-12650H
NVIDIA RTX 4060 Laptop GPU
16GB DDR5 RAM
1920×1080 144Hz display

Conclusion
This is not a config or hardware problem — it’s a bug in how FC26 handles graphics presets.
Custom settings save correctly, but the RenderingQuality flag overrides them in-match.

It’s worth noting that the game worked normally for me during the first week after release — my custom graphics settings applied correctly in matches and everything looked as expected. However, since Thursday the problem began, and I haven’t been able to properly play the game at all. Every time I load into a match, the graphics are forced back to a preset (usually High/Ultra), ignoring my custom values. Because of this, I’ve missed out on tournaments and other content I wanted to take part in.

  • Found a fix, when saving your graphics, use your mouse to save em, not controller

But it doesn't stay saved. As soon as you enter a game, the settings are changed again.

  • Yo FrostyFurf, after a lot of tinkering with the settings on EAFC 26 along with NVIDIA's Control Panel, I've kind of got a pretty consistent solution to this.

Since my monitor's refresh rate is 60Hz, I will be capping to 60 FPS. I used Fullscreen for the Display & no V-Sync as the NVIDIA Control Panel would override it. For the Graphics Settings, I've sticked to Low preset graphics. Initially during the 1st few restarts of the game, the game would occasionally bug out. But after a few times, it works relatively stable now, with minimum instability issues while benchmarking the game through Kick Off mode to see if the FPS drops. When I tried online modes in Ultimate Team, the controller input works fine along with no fps drops during corners.

Hello: the solution is very simple and easy.
.After your custom graphics settings is done .

    1.End up the game

    2.Go to windows disk C

    3.look for fcsetup.ini (windows disk:c/user/name/appdata/local/fc26folder/fcsetup.ini.)

4.open the fcsetup.ini and save your settings by clicking on file and selecting save then close it.

    5.Right -click on the fcsetup.ini

    6.select properties

    7.click on read-only and apply

    8.press on Ok

Now your Custom settings will be saved as expected 👌
