Input delay and fps problem after update
I am writing to report severe performance degradation in EA SPORTS FC 26 on PC following the recent update (approx. January 22nd).
Before this update, the game was running perfectly smooth with high performance, even with background applications (Discord, Spotify) running. However, immediately after the update, the game has become unplayable due to persistent stuttering, FPS drops, and input lag.
My System:
- GPU: Intel Arc Graphics
- Platform: PC / Windows
The Specific Issues:
- Permanent Stuttering: When an FPS drop occurs (even momentarily), the game fails to recover its smooth frame pacing. It stays in a lagging state indefinitely.
- The "Alt-Tab" Behavior: The only way to fix the stuttering temporarily is to Alt-Tab out of the game and switch back in. This suggests a focus/priority issue introduced by the update.
- Input Lag: Uncapping the FPS results in 120-150 FPS but introduces massive input lag. Capping it at 60 FPS stabilizes it slightly, but the drops still occur.
Troubleshooting Steps I Have Already Tried (None worked):
To save time, please note that I have already attempted the following technical solutions without success:
- Clean Installation of Settings: Deleted fcsetup.ini and the "FC 26" folder in Documents to generate fresh config files.
- Shader Cache: Cleared DirectX Shader Cache via Windows Disk Cleanup and deleted temporary files.
- In-Game Settings: Disabled "Strand Based Hair," turned off V-Sync, and disabled Dynamic Resolution.
- Intel Arc Settings: Disabled "Tessellation" and "Smooth Sync" within Intel Arc Control; updated to the latest drivers (Clean Install).
- Windows Settings: Disabled "Game Mode," disabled "Fullscreen Optimizations" for fc26.exe, and set High Priority in Task Manager.
- Repair: Performed a full game repair via the EA App.
This issue seems specific to the interaction between the latest FC 26 Update and Intel Arc drivers/shader compilation.
I request an urgent investigation into this optimization issue.
